Huge packing problems with Pakrat and MAN?

Hey,

I've got a number of essential problems with the two bsp-packing programs I know of, Pakrat and MAN.

- MAN won't include my obj_icons - this is a known problem. Does anybody know how to resolve it?
- also, MAN won't include two of my three .wav files aswell as the overview files.

Manual addition of these files would _not_ work. Does anybody have an idea how to solve these probs?

For pakrat it's almost the same - pakrat _will_ include the obj_icons, but neither the overview nor the custom sound files.

Manual addition also didn't work at all.

Does anybody have a clue how to go on from this point?

Are there any other alternatives, e.g. packing the map into an .exe or some variation to create a .bsp?

Thanks very much in advance,

Albatros

An alternative is to pack it all in the right folders with most of it within the .bsp into a .rar or .zip file then add a .res file which tells the server to dish out the remaining files that didn't pack into the .bsp

As soon as you add the html description file or the soundscape file, Pakrat will go crazy and corrupt some of the files (the last two in the list generally). Pack all of them except for those. Custom sound files could also be a problem (as in, they won't work if packed last I heard?)

Odd !! Pakrat works perfectly fine here as well for ALL custom material.

Do you have the latest version of pakrat?

Obj icons need specific paths. Check the paths I used in flurry. Check with pakrat, it will show the proper paths.

When you open Pakrat and select your map. Click the auto button. Then hit save once it's done adding/scanning.

The html description may be added to the pack, but it must not be added to the .bsp because it will not work. Something to do with IE needing to open it, official html descriptions aren't even packed.

@Ca-Chicken-Soup:

Thanks, I think I'll be using the method you described in the first posting!

@Furyo:

Well, the files are not corrupted, adding them is simply not possible.

Let's say the auto-scan of pakrat adds 4 .wav files to the list - then I can add a random 5. one, but not any further files.

@Ultranew_b:

That's how I did it.. :(

Another question - usually, pakrat appears to include all the "basic" textures into the .zip aswell, like the brick textures, metalwood, tileroof X or whatever textures. Do I really need these, or will it be enough just to add all the custom textures, decals, mapmodels and soundfiles + the overviews and obj_infos to make it playable with the average DoD-content on one's HD?

Thank you guys so far!
