OK..

1. How do you make a env_model play it's animiation i.e the cow look up then taking a bit e of grass.

2. Where is the big sandbag model in the dod folder I can only find sandbags.mdl and that a small set of sandbags.

3. is the name dod_france taken (if so can anyone think of a good name for a countryside map)

4. How do I get rid of (in the 'check map for errors' box) info_player_allies/axis has unused key values

Any answers would be appreciated.

1. the "sequence" field - you need a model viewer to find out what sequence to put in there though (the cow is 'idle' and 'dead')

2. get a model viewer, (Half-Life Model Viewer v1.25) its fort.mdl

3. think of an original name, dont do something generic like "france", if it that fails, get a map and pick somewere.

4. you dont, you just ignore them (these errors arent really errors)

Thanks for the answers but the only mdl. similar to fort.mdl i have is forts.mdl which is four sand bags with a mesh roof in the middle like the one used in Charlie as the radio station.
I'm talking about a sandbag like the one in the first pic of IR's new map in the thread 'welcome to holland'

Is it maybe a sub-model you are looking for?

It's one of the many sub groups on the basic sandbag model

for #4 its actually a .fgd problem. my .fgd fixes it but I hit a snag that stops maps compiling so the link is down at the mo. you'll see it on the new posts when I get it working again.
