Dod-federation is looking for testers !

Among many other services, the dod-federation provides playtests to all mappers requesting it.

We're currently looking for more registered members who could take part in those playtests. If you like the maps made by Fuzzdad, Insta, JakeParlay and many others, the federation is the only place to come and test them before they're made public, possibly putting in your own touch in the maps !

Among the widely known communities that have joined the fed are CoJ, SunLit Games, 907th, dodfrance.com, dodasia.net, Buxom Bombshells, and others...

If you're interested, check us out now: http://www.dod-federation.com

 Furyo has an avatar!

Just a note from me saying the DOD-F has probaly the best testing 'service' around so more testers would be awsome, nothing like a full server to test a map.

I can't do it thou, no internet :(

The tests that I have been a part of have been really fun, but managing to attend alot of them becomes difficult since they all are at their own times. I understand that it is difficult with time zone and schedule conflicts, but if their was SOME universal concensus of appropriate times... it'd be alot easier to remember when to attend. I'd be at alot more of them if I knew every ________ there would be a test around ___ o'clock. Just an idea.

Furyo, my apologies @ not posting there in a while, but I do read - you can rely on me for testing support.

This isn't supposed to be pointing the finger at anyone in particular, we all have appreciated the help of numerous people over the months. We just all think it can still improve, and are willing to do our best to see that it does.

Good idea about the tests, though there are tools for everyone to remember the tests. For one thing tests are posted on the forums, but there's also an email sent out to registered members.

As a rule of thumb, you can count on a playtest every saturday at least, either at 9 EST or 9 PST.

Hey Furyo.

do you think it would be a good idea to try a thread like this in the general section? get more readers maybe.

Well I already thought this was very close to a shameless plug on my part, so I'll leave it to the powers that be whether that's acceptable in the general forum. I really would appreciate it of course, as would all in the fed.

Wish people would do testing at more Euro friendly hours. We do our mod testing at 9-10pm GMT/BST and all the North Americans make it fine at weekends.

Getting up in the early hours of the morning to test stuff is not fun.

Well then....

Volunteer a server and server admins for testing during your times... and it can be arranged :)

Come talk to us!

Well, for starters I don't play DoD:S so not much point running a server.

If you can do a test twice at different hours, you'd almost certainly get a lot more testers. Doing the majority of the tests in the NA evenings pretty much guarantees you wont get a lot of Euro's playing. Perhaps if you did one around 1-4pm PST the Euro's can do it, return server to normal for 6 hours and then do the NA test.

Only a couple of issues there...

1. DOD:F relies on community servers for testing as we don't have one of our own (YET!).

2. Noting the above comment - Most server admins (that I am aware of) are at werk at that time, so it would be pretty hard to organize and admin the test. Unless of course they had Euro members or someone that is around at that time of the day.

3. Although this could be done on the weekends, alot of people have this issue of Real Life interferring with their DOD life :)

Believe me - I would do something about it personally if I could. But - I can't. If we were to get MORE Euro members into the Federation I'm sure this could be arranged alot easier! Specially considering alot of the maps we test are being made by people on your side of the pond!

A 1-time plug is fine. We allow that for a wide range of things all the time. :)

More servers to test on is rad, but what we need more are testers. I still havn't seen a full game in a test. And that would really nice, to get to see how a full game pans out, without having to make a public release. Just having 8-12 people play a map gets a lot of great feedback and ideas going, but a full game would really help a mapper find better gameplay and optimization.

Anyone who really appreciates a good map, whether a mapper or player should get involved! and tell your friends.

I have a community of 80 members who would jump at the opportunity to feel important.

I shot you a return PM.

I know this sounds extreme but it could be a fair deal...

To have people maptest your map, you've got to be a tester in X amount of tests prior.

It seems like fair incentive to make people actually show up.
