Have fun!

You can download the self installing map versions here:

Sunlit Games: client file (http://www.sunlitgames.net/indimaps/dod_anvil2.exe)
FD's Website: Client file (http://mysite.verizon.net/warewind/site/dod_anvil2.exe)

Sunlit Games: For server side download (http://www.sunlitgames.net/indimaps/dod_anvil2_server.exe)
FD's Website: For server side download (http://mysite.verizon.net/warewind/site/dod_anvil2_server.exe)

Pic: Click Here (http://mysite.verizon.net/warewind/images/anvil2.jpg)

Base Change Log:

1) Compressed gameplay w/major path changes.
2) No reports of a bad "sound looping" bug
3) Area's where there was either limited combat or a campers paradise have been removed.
4) Additional detail has been added.
5) FPS is generally better but probably a wash.
6) Replaced all the caps (except the mid cap) w/new "things".
7) All caps except mid only require one person.
8) Moved allied spawn exit up towards allied 1.
9) Lowered ambient sound (it's there but not overwhelming).
10) Optimized certain higher fps area's.

This version is NOT the rambling anvil you've played before nor is it your dad's anvil. Combat is brutal, it's faster, it rewards teamwork, and you can't just meander all over the place anymore...you are forced into combat zones and you are forced to fight. It also looks like CAL picked it up for their 6x6 and 8x8 divisions.

One problem identified last night: Some displacements refuse to show bullet holes. It might be my vmt files but I'm not updating them...too many folks have this version on their hard drives and I just can't map it anymore. It's been almost two years in the making from learning Source mapping to this release of anvil. Dontcha think it's time I moved on to something new?

Yes ........ Glider ;)

All kidding aside, Anvil2 is a great map . The initial early release of anvil, in all its incarnations, set the bar for the Source custom map community.
Good job... and of course running on all SunLit servers :D

...i.e. we can t expect that you pack all files in a single bsp-file soon?

Nope...you're going to have to live with it as is. If I had someone pack it now you'd have a different version. Although it's easier on server admins the recent addition of the html menu's in maps made it impossible to pack all the files into the bsp. Furthermore none of the current 3d-party GUI tools work w/all the java patches out there and despite my best efforts I could never get a few of the special icons to pack. So I saw little benefit to packing some files and not others...might as well put them all out there.

So is this it the final final of the final? Is it safe to put this on my server without some changes forthcoming?

It's the same level (11) as the regular anvil for the ambients. The only difference is I removed the B-17's as that seems to be in every map these days so I saw no need for them.

You really need to put everything together in one .bsp file.

I'm having problems with this map in regards to setting it up for fast downloads via my personal website.

I use the following command:

sv_downloadurl "http://www.myurl.com/downloads/"

Normally, I just drop the custom maps in a folder called maps.

My problem now, is where to locate all the sound, scripts, resource, and material folders?

you should put all the folders there as well
sv_downloadurl "http://www.myurl.com/downloads/"

so you'll have the following folders in the downloads directory:
maps
materials
resource
scripts
sound

The players that are downloading the map via this route are saying that the map is purple in some areas. What is causing this?

the fact that not all textures were downloaded. make sure you put everything in your sv_download directory !

You probably have a linux server...pay particular attention to the capitilization of the files in the zip.

if you bzip2 your bsp files, you have to do the same with all other files which are needed by the map.

i'd the same problem with dod_fog_b1 today - normaly i use only maps where just everything is in .bsp ;)

and check the paths in .ress file - they have to be with / instead of \ (what is for wincrap needed :D)
