Attention historical nit-pickers! (like me)

Okay As you may guess by looking at the pics, I finally decided to have another go at a couple of skins. I had some suggestions from the last few skins concerning historical accuracy. One fellow told me that the helmet covers wre never actually made into 44dot (no matter what the repro sellers tell ya). Another suggestion was that the helmets were dark green, pea-green paint was done much later on in vietnam-era. Etc, etc.

So in order to get it out of your system BEFORE I waste a bunch of time (and to help me out also ;) ) look at 'em and tell me what you think would be more accurate.

exceptions:
- No "needs to be dirty". haven't completely gotten to that stage yet.

- No "the face/hands need..." these are not of concern at the moment either. Equipment and uniforms.

- No pointing out obvious stuff, like the German did not have rank on both sleeves. Yes. We all know. Our kids know. Our dogs know. CNN knows. Complain to the model maker.

- Just comment on these skins right here. There are other versions of the axis. I'm just not working on those at the moment.

never was a fan of pea dot camo, but the allied soldier looks good.

Yes! Thank you, I look forward to release. More than half of the skins I use are made by you, surprisingly enough. Looks perfect so far, no faults here. Good job. :)

i haven't used customs since the secondlast update, when tin-man appeared. Can i use customs now without tin-man?

Good start. The only things that stood out to me were the Allied model's pants and jacket colors are bit off. Not looking too much like the original color (which is much more dull and flat). The jacket is a bit on the shiny side and the pants are looking more olive than the more plain brown that sparks my memory.

It might be just the pic, but the 3rd ID tag on the helmet wouldve been very bright white and ultramarine blue, highly contrasting. Its looking on the dull side atm.

Try to find a color image of a 3rd ID soldier or re-enactor in natural outdoor lighting to get a better handle on the colors.

It also appears that the details of the axis soldier are a bit on the dark side. Even though the straps may have been black, you have to compensate in games by lighting things up a bit. I personally love having blacks "black", but the only way to distinguish detail in game is to light it up. Same goes for the bandoliers/pouches and boots. The camo is excellent.

See what happens when you hit "auto contrast" or "auto color" in a program like Picasa2 by google. (5mb??) You'd be surprised how much that program can help balance out your colors on all your projects.

Last thing to say is try sharpening up everything. It might look overkill in photoshop, but remember in game all the texture filtering going on, sharpening up 1 more time makes a huge difference in game, especially to people running lower resolutions and color bit depth.

The Pants should be a mustard color (Hence the name "Mustards")

I could be wrong but i think the boots are Type II Service Shoes that were replaced by the "Roughout" Boots in about 1943.

But all in all looks great
