SDK launcher copying files?

Everytime I start the SDK launcher, it tells me it's copying files. What is this?

While on the subject of stupid SDK behaviour, my Hammer keeps crashing for various explained and unexplained reasons. Anybody else experiencing similar problems?

Yeah, but I haven't had problems until recently.
