This is an optional update pack for Hill_Classic, it adds a mission brief (ala jagd and colmar), a minimap and a fix for the missing underwater material

Note - This pack will only work for the final release of hill_classic

Download the pack - http://files.filefront.com/dod_hill_classic_updatepack_v1/;5378780;;/fileinfo.html

IF you have trouble with File front I made to mirrors of this.

This one is for both the map and the update in one file.

This one is just for the update if you already have dod_hill_classic.

Enjoy and great work.

Thanks for a job very well done. A fantastic map. It was nice to have you vist our server downunder the other night (not sure what time it would have been for you :) ).

It was a pleasure to have the mapper giving us tips on their map.

Here is a mirror of update file for Linux/FreeBSD server ops with shell access and wget

http://www.box.net/public/static/ydbd0quh35.rar

Here is a self installer of the update file for windoze (for clients if required & serverops may need to adjust the install path to suit)

http://www.box.net/public/static/nll9pk0128.exe

Here is a self installer for windoze of the whole box and dice i.e. the map and the update combined http://www.box.net/public/static/8mh5i6v88q.exe I took the liberty of tweaking your readme file regarding the inclusion of the update.

The reduction in file size is achived via the LZMA compression option within NSIS (the choice of champions ;-) BTW if anyone is using NSIS to build self-installers and hasn't figured out how to get it to poke around in the registry to locate the user's steam installation or to select the better compression options I can post a sample if requested.

Are clients required to install the update Someth|ngW|cked or will putting it on server side be sufficient ?

Now, I'm not a mapper at all, but I have a few comments because this type of stuff just pisses me off in a way as a server admin. WTF release a map as FINAL when it's NOT FINAL? It's really quite annoying...fortunately you say these files work with the last released BSP.

I have also mirroed a patch file, but mines better if these folks just copied it, and for a couple of reasons:

1) This patch file has a .RES file in the maps dir for folks that utilize fast downloads so their clients won't have to manually install the pack files to make the updates for...the next time they join the server it will just HAPPEN. You should have done this...

2) I cleaned out your waste of windows spaces thumbs.db files where you had images.

P.S. Filefront does suck...a lot. Ask one of these fine folks that like to help with mirrors if you can just host there next time.

Enjoy...

Perhaps he isn't just a mapper , but also a human who like most of us makes mistakes. Take your posse for example...

1. You misunderstand the concept of mirror.

2. You are pissed off because of a trivial human error on the part of someone who has clearly invested weeks or months of work to produce a fine map which he gives to you for nothing.

3. You made a hasty and unintentionally churlish posting instead of simply putting up a link to the res file, politely pointing out the extra baggage in the rar file and getting on with whatever puts a grin above your chin.

Never mind, you are only human too.

And you couldn't be adult with the intent of my post and let it go and just HAD to bash it. I have a right to be annoyed...what I feel is my problem I realize. However, because it's hard to interpret tone with text you may have thought I was REALLY quite upset...and I'm not.

The intent of the post is more educational than anything else. We learn from our mistakes, and I do understand that he's human...to err is human. If anything I would hope Wicked would look at that and go "hmm, I guess I should have done that." and carried on...wouldn't have thought otherwise of it...

Wicked, thank you for taking your time and effort into rebuilding a map that many people enjoy. I beleive I did post on a previous thread for this map how much FON enjoys it. It is a great map and I apologize for not stating otherwise with what appeared to be a carelessly negative post on my part apparently...

I actually played the B2 version with you for a while on the Budz server when you released it, and I think it's great that you make the effort to get feedback from people regarding the map while they play it.

Thanks again...and LUDO...whatever...just let go...

[FON]BlackHole,

If your intent was to educate, then by all means do so politely and more power to you.

If I mistook your tone, then I wholeheartedly appologize. Foolish of me to interpret "pisses me off" and your captialization the way I did.

Thankyou again for providing the .res file.
