SDK update problem...

so uhh... yea... i load dod_hectic_b4.vmf and what happens? hammer closes!!! YAY!!!!!!

im pissed now... but wont be tomorow though... air show FTW!!!


so yea... anyone got a fix?

They certainly made it more user hostile. It seems to load - it had a cool entity logic map. Its gone now and don't know how to bring it back. Had to insert a 3D camera to get 3D views - never had to do that before. I did something - now have 3D views on top of all 2D views and it doesn't want to go away. It locks up and the cursor goes bye-bye. I think the QC boys fell asleep on this one. Maybe we can get a roll back?

Hrm mines working fine :P the defult 3D view is smaller than normal but that's the only difference I found.

"hammer closes" is not an error unless it crashes. Does the SDK Source Menu close? Do you get an error message? Do you have gameinfo.txt files for every mod?

i cant open source sdk at all as it says sourcemods\cfg\gameinfo.txt missing :-(

the same's happening to me, a loading bar comes up and then i get an 'out of memory' error and hammer crashes. it only does it on certain maps though, not that it works when it does actually load a map.

colmar worked all fine, so its not that bad.

Same issues can't get 3d textured view in top left corner frame.

colmar worked all fine, so its not that bad.

Attempts to load decompiled a decompiled version of Jagd have always crashed (atleast for me) its not unique to this update.

There was most deffinately an update to the SDK or maybe this was an update from a while ago that steam didn't feel loke giving meu ntil now but hammer ha s anew lighting preview option (which doesnt work), a new view collission model button for models in hammer, a new model viewer which is ALOT faster and more robust than the old one as wel as a few other additions here and there

If i were you i would just right click the SOURCESDK in your steam>tools window and choose remove local content then just right click again and reinstall, this will not mess with your sourcesdk content folder, your vmfs will be fine

As far as decompiled jagd crashing your hammer you can stop this by simply not allowing it to decompile displacements when using VMEX, should work just fine

but the source SDK doesnt close, only hammer. i load the map, it sais "for your information, 1 solid(s) were not loaded due to errors in the file." i press ok, it finishes loading, and hammer closes. i can open any other map, just not dod_hectic_b4...

1. sometimes the hammer ignore the key´s to move in 3d view of hammer ,this bug i have early times but after the update i have it more times ^^
2. hammer close whitout an errormessage ^^ (my map file is large and it lags in
hammer when i move in 3dview)

Valve is not my friend. SDK will not work because "blah blah blah... gameinfo.txt is missing"

I have done NOTHING but download the updates. I have verified, clarified, uninstalled, reinstalled, lubed the SDK up with butter to help it fit better....

NADA. ZIP. NOTHING.

still get the stupid "blah blah blah... gameinfo.txt is missing" error. I have to admit Valve breaking their SDK with every single update is gettin pretty old. Anyone have any new ideas that haven't been posted in this thread

LOL I skin - I don't map :) was trying to run the SDK model viewer. It's just that a post was already started in this forum ;)

I tried all the suggestions included in the valve Wiki. Ran all the games. Didn't work. As a matter of fact not one suggestion in their wiki worked.

In the end I finally ended up temporarily moving all the folders in my "Sourcemods" folder; This allowed the SDK to FINALLY finish updating without an error. However this is not truly a solution - it is just a work-around.

Remember the good 'ol days when the HLMV would work flawlessly day after day, update after update and opened up any HL model regardless of where it was???? Yeah I miss them too :(
