effects like these can be achieved in video editting software, like sony vegas, adobe premier etc...
Windows movie maker also has a good film grain affect i dont know about the others in that program.

There's a lot more to those movies than just the effects. Precise camera positions, etc. I don't think I've ever seen a movie made with such control.

is there anyway to make the audio sound better when i record with fraps? when ever i record with fraps, the video quality is alright, but the audio quality always sounds a little muffled.

Same for me. Sounds like an old radio.

I'm actually suspicious that its some sort of "DRM/Copy Protection" thing in Windows itself to stop you recording music from things like iTunes, et. al.

Seeing Pierog attempt to do it, I'd say the hardest part is getting the people to "act" how you want them.

Although that was the one (and likely only) time he used a group of people he didn't know.

Oi?

if you use the ingame recording tool instead of fraps itll export the sound for you ina nice and perfect wav file.

the hardest part is communicating and making people supress their ingame motions.

Its kind of hard to direct 20+ people over voice comm

"what was that, i didn't hear you?", etc.

then when you type it, it takes 1-2 minutes just to explain what is going to happen.

as for camera control, with source you can actually edit the camera position in demos, and even give it a track to follow and a target to follow, giving you very flowing movement....

it almost makes me hate myself for never finishing one round short and then moving chaos films into source... oh well.

Well, once we start the PR campaign for Ham & Jam, you know me and faceman will make something.

and a note on demo recording, if you are acting out a scene with a few people, use a listen server instead of a dedicated one, and record the demos on the host... they'll be extremely smooth.
