Please, please, stop adding that stupid rounded wooden part to the end of the Garands!

Jajahu's Garand (http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jajahu/garand.jpg)

These piss me off to no end! I don't have a problem with the presence of it (it's historically accurate), but the fact that it NEVER fits along with the rest of the rifle in a way that looks good! It always looks wider than the rest of the wood, but as shown in the following picture, they are cleary the same width.

The only model I've seen that does it WELL is Polygon's!

lol, both of those are the same Garand. They were modeled by Nomad and is the only custom Garand model I know of because it's the best. There are other skins but that's the only custom Garand model. Also, Polygon skinned both those Garands.

I guess you called it JAJAHU's garand cause it was in his pack, but it's not his.

I'm confused about what you dislike, and that's my Garand with Polygon's skin, by the way.

If you are talking about the piece of wood behind the the large piece of metal with the serial number on it, it's round because it's the simplest way to make a the model and actually decently correct. The round part was supposed to be further forward but it was overlooked since when it was originally compiled, that part wouldn't be seen.

Foist of all, I compared this Garand from jajahu's v_ model pack and the one from Polygon's upcoming BAR/Garand release, and Poly reskinned the part in question so that it blends better. I think I don't like Jajahu's version the wooden part in question contrasts so much with the other wood, making it look out of place.

The wooden part in question:

That part is oval shaped.

I think why that is, is because who ever converted the model to dod v.1.0 and edited it for the new FOV look, should of edited the skin aswell , the lighting looks all wrong on the end of the barrel to me, and is the reason why i still use the default one instead.

Thank you! The lighting is wrong, making it look weird compared to the rest of the model.

poly skinned both of them, just so you know.

and i updated it...and just making that part of the model larger doesnt shift the lighting on the model...and how can that possibly bother you? the model/skin are both beautiful. i still dont understand what exactly is bothering you? if you mean that it doesnt match the wood right behind it..thats because they are 2 separate pieces of the gun. look at it in HLMV.

and im a modeller, not a skinner. im in no position to fix skins to peoples likings, sorry.

Yeah I never liked the Nomad garand model, except the shoulder one where it was a lot smaller and you couldnt tell how boxy and bulky it was.
It's just too bulky and "flat".
I think flat is just the word I am using to describe what you call "round".

Isnt a garand supposed to be oval shaped? The garand everyone loves to re-skin looks like a box.
Like the top part of that garand almost could be used as a table.

man you guys wouldnt know a beautiful model if it licked your nutsack for you... :)

the "flat table" wood front of the garand model, you will notice, is accurate.

That's always bothered be a little too about that model. Not the part Cathode was talking about but the top wood just forward of the reciever. The wood is kind of mushroom shaped and sticks outthe sides but really it doesn't. I have a Garand and mine is a little closer to the default provided in 1.0. I totally agree the skin is simply great but if that one piece was fixed it would be perfect.

The best M1 Garand model to date is the default v1.0 M1 Garand - that comes from the owner of a Garand.

It captures the look of it, with the exception of the color, perfectly.

I would have to disagree. I work around Garands almost everyday and that "flat table" is over exagerated in my opinion. It has always bothered me. That part should be thinner than the wood beneath it, but on the model it looks wider.
