How do,

I started making this pack for the lads in the 2nd Army squad. It's nearly done but I seem to have hit a problem. I can't get the helmets to fly off as the player heads have a hole in the top of them. I tried dragging the vertexs together to fill the gap but that resulted in a cone head effect lol

Anyone got any tips on how I could fix the problem?

If not, it doesn't really matter as I personally think they look pretty good with helmets on all the time.

Anyway, this was made for the 2nd Army but if anyone else wants it I can't really see the harm in releaseing it.

I'm a pretty piss poor skinner so please excuse the terrible blue band above the patch lol

The only default head that even looks like a 'Brit' is the sniper lol The sarge looks weird, the rifleman looks german and the bren gunner looks like he'd be more at home baking pies lol

Ska I find this to be the funniest, becuase when I go to Universial Studios (its what we do for fun in Orlando.) I can ALWAYS tell a British person in the crowd. As long as you all know it too. :D

Yes, but the french also had a massive empire and nobody is scared of them. Spain too for that matter lol. I honestly cant tell if someone is British based on looks, I have seen tons of movies with an actor speaking with a American English accent i have never seen before and I say to myself "I really like him/her good actor" And then i see them on Jay Leno and they have a british accent lol.

Yeah I love the faces too. They are taken from Klowns old Brit pack from 3.1 which IMO was the best brit pack out.

I jus love the faces especially the MG/Bren face with the cut eyebrow and face. I use these face models for nearly all the brit models I make cos I jus love 'em lol

@ Toejam, thats cos your an American lol It's mainly jus us Brits that can spot follow countrymen, but they are exceptions (e.g. Whap lol) and anyway its jus an obsovational thing, not an exact science lol

@ Beare, that reskin looks really good. I was thinking about putting rank cheverons on the soldiers arms? Probally Private for rifleman, Lance Corporal for Bren gunner, Sarge for er... Sarge and probally a Corporal for the sniper.

As for the references to Klown's set, I don't know if he is planning on doing Brit's again, but we have certainly discussed a new Cdn set for 1.0. (I did some of the team select stuff in his 3.1 pack)

I've made the unit badges as a seperate model with its own skin so they will be easy to reskin to whatever squad your in or whatever company you want them to represent, you may have to edit the model a bit in milkshape as the 2nd army's badge is a shield shape which not all companies used. but i think several canadian company badges were the same shape weren't they?

Klowns Brit pack in 3.1 was the best ever, his hand textures were great, they looked really dirty and war torn.

@ Toejam, feel free to change the subject as much as you want lol I had threads that jus have people droaning on about one subject for 4 pages lol It's good to get a bit of chatting in there at some point lol makes it more interesting to read.

As for the animations. Someone made some proper sten animations back in 3.1 but they never got released on any models i think. I could have a go at converting them over so the soldier holds the gun jus under the barrel.

Nah this aint the same project, this was jus a side thing I though I'd do cos the lads in the 2nd Army seemed like a nice lot of blokes.

Anyway, jus put those textures on and they look alot better, especially the reskin you did on the '2nd army' tag thing.

Jus gonna fix the hands and then the models will be pretty much done.

i was thinking of adding a sten gun to the snipers back on a strap, what do you think? or should i just stick to the plan lol

Well I already made the sten gun on a strap for an older commando model I was working on, so I'll jus rip it from that.

heres some pics of the sten gun on the sniper. I'll have to take the mag off though as it looks like it cuts clean through his leg when he starts jogging or running lol

Also the strap kinda goes through his arm when he's idle but this is only a minor problem IMO

Since you do modelling Ska and were talking abot a Scots Regiment, I was wondering.. Here there is only one local Highland Regiment (Seaforth Highlanders of Canada). Some of them wear kilts, some pants. The difference between the two I am not sure. I am also not sure if this was done in the war.

What I used to do in previous versions of DoD with the kilt models was put them only as the MG and sniper class. So do the British regiments also do this, and would you be interested in doing a model with the submodels arranged as such?

A few reasons you can tell if a person is British or not (and I'm talking as a Brit hee) is taht when yo go on holiday;

1. We have to wear shorts, no matter where we go on holiday,

2. We demand British food, and dont even try to sample the ne and exciting food the country has to offer,

3. We go mental when people dont speak english, or do it badly (I theory on this is because in ours heads we are thinking, pfft, we probably rulled over you at some point, the least you could do is speak prober bloody english, pfft!).

@ Arsenal. I was planning on putting some of the models in kilts. The way I've made this pack is by making a totally seperate model for each of the 4 classes. The only thing these model share is that they all have the same hands, so putting kilts on some of these lads and not others would be childs play.

I'll probally put the bren gunner and mabye the sarge in kilts (british white legs ahoy!) and the rest in trousers. I'll also probally put short sleeves on a few of them and mabye one of them beret things with the bobble on top (dunno the name for 'em)
