Custom models not showing

I was using several custom models (like hobosphere's smoke grenade resize) before the update. I removed them before updating, and upon restoring them they no longer work. As instructed by Wile, I've removed all .vmt and _normal.vtf files in my models and materials folders. But anything with a model change in the dod/models folder just doesn't show up anymore. Is there a way to fix this? Is anyone trying to work around this now?

I pretty much did the same thing. I backed up my enire DoD folder before the update. After the update, the only thing that was changed was my HUD, which thankfully Insane updated very quickly..thanks Insane! Anyhow, I use custom everything and it all worked fine. I've even downloaded Wile E's new smoke grenade, it works fine too. Phone worked on my custom axis's skins, but not my Allied (i use cruz's).
If you removed your custom stuff before the update, did you have any models there at all when it updated? Or would it just have downloaded them first..I'm not sure. If you didnt have say your allied skins in there folder when the update happenned..maybe that caused a problem?
You may want to just start over from scratch and uninstall dod completely, then refill your custom content back in.

i didnt do anything before or after the update, everything works fine, perhaps your backup efforts are the cause?

Could be. Reinstalling them new seems to be the best way to get things up and running again. Could be that I misplaced files transfering them back to their original folders.
