dart has released his new version of dods_chemille_b2, now known as

dod_coire_rc2 (http://www.sunlitgames.net/mappics/dod_coire_rc2.jpg)
Mirror (http://www.sunlitgames.net/dods_mapgallery.php#C)

He has managed to sourcify its appearance, keep fps stable and high (90+ on my rig) and captured the feel of the original chemille gameplay. We playtested it with a full house last night for two hours. A pure pleasure. Running on SunLits DODS servers.

dod_coire_rc2 by dart _ remake of dod_chemille for 1.3 -

map uses custom textures that I have photoshopped, so i'd reccomend you have the latest videocard drivers, but it's not required.

__________________________________________________ _______________

if you wish to use this map in any leagues you do not need my permission.

I have been working on this map since Sept 2005, I'd like to thank everyone who supported b2 even though it wasn't up to source par.
Compile time has been lowered from 10 hours to 2, all leaks in map have been fixed, and it has been further optimized.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
changelog from b2
-reworked most area's of the map
-removed apc and car from factory
-added source object's inside and outside of buildings
-added a bathroom
-reworked building at allied first
-reworked building at axis first
-reworked axis spawn
-removed secondary exit for axis _ axis got to the flags far too fast.
-changed some roofs at factory and underpass
-fixed map leaks.
-further optimized
-------------------------------------------------------------------
KNOWN ISSUES - Seams in the ground where you can see the sky, and possibly some walls - These look fine in hammer they were caused by the last update. next version will have a 3dskybox and be final, but I am going to wait until valve fixes the problems from the last update.

dart signing off!
Enjoy. p

Thanks guys :-), hopefully it can make it to the stats someday like b2!
http://www.dayofdefeat.com/stats/maps.html#2 - suprising when some people said no one would play it.

There's a seam in the sidewalk at underpass I could have covered it but im not too worried about it, caused by the last update, if it wasn't for dx8.0 I wouldn't have even been able to finish up the stuff on it.

displacements are sewn well, hope I got all of them and I redid most of the optimization methods in it.
the ground under displacements are kinda like... nodraw stairs and the sky is packed TIGHT, compile time reduced from 10 hours to 2.

3d skybox is about done, and above the church area really needs it, it's plain nothing out there. I'm not going to release a version with it until valve can fix the problems with seams and such though.

-I know there's a bad fps spot in allied spawn + axis first and I know what the problem is.

Thanks. :)

I have also started a brandnew map (not a remake) and it is going very well.

oops forgot to mention, sealing the map off completely and redoing my old horrible skybox dropped the bsp from 50 megs to 18.5. :)

I love this map, much more like the chemille of old. The fps are fantastic, im running 1440x900, 16xAF and 4xAA and it didn't drop below 100fps once for me.
Excellent job!

We had a LOT of fun on this tonight. Would love to see more of the rainy, atmospheric chemille of old. But, great job. It was a big hit tonight.

Thanks for adding that bathroom. All that battling really works your bladder. Great visuals!

EDIT: Is dart looking at this thread now? If so, will HDR be added before the final version?

Why gave a new name? This is similar to dod_chemille!

lies....

dart did this one (coire), bayonne (http://forums.caleague.com/showthread.php?t=38640), and dods_chemille (http://forums.caleague.com/showthread.php?t=29251)..... and the final name SUPPOSEDLY is going to just be dod_chemille.

all three are the same map and by the same guy.. they just couldnt make up their minds on a name.

I've gotten emails asking me why i decompiled dods_chemille_b2 and edited it, i'm the one that did that one. and another email saying i ripped off dod_calais, (someone's new chemille remake) which hasn't even been released yet. So.. meh.

I cant name it dod_chemille valve owns the rights to that name, and if I did it would conflict with valve's version if they ever brought one out.

Nicely done!

As far as what people say, I've noticed people are hilarious. Let's see, why did you decompile your own map?
And, you ripped off an unreleased, unseen map? Your uber mental powers are beyond mere mortals comprehension ;)

It seems to me that people might just say "Thanks" and show some graciousness, the variety that appears in this very thread.

from the looks of things, their intentions are elsewhere..... i bet you they dont.

and if that truly is the ONLY reason, dod_chemille2 would fit the bill.

Whatever you do don't call it Coire. Because you know less than a quarter of the players are going to be pronouncing it right. ...Of course I guess the same could be said of Chemille... Call it dod_chamois? ;)

Lol, how is it supposed to be pronounced? I say "choir," and chances are that it's wrong. :p

I've been calling it "kwawr", like saying choir with a Southern accent. Is this right? :p

"Ah best git teh kwawr practice, paster's gunna be spittin' mad!"

We're playing this one a lot. Great job and I'm sure the next one will be even better.
