are there any better replacments out there that don't hog screen real easte

Since it is the actual model you would have to get a whole new model, but I don't recon it will do you much good. Also, the gun was already pulled far enough away from the face...Oh how I miss my old IS :(

the garands one is good but the k98 can be better

Summed up my thoughts exactly, rather have the us sights... but the KARs power.

It may be realistic ... but not fun to use.

Is this one of the situations that require realism to slip a bit... in the name of fun?

why cant you just learn to use it, everyone will have the same problem unless they want to use a differnet one but taht is kinda cheating

They did let realism slip, by pulling the guns furhter away from the face in the first place.

yes i like it, and it is unfair to people have unrealsitic ones like i have seen on DOD custom content

They need to let realism to slip a bit more then.

This is a game after all. Do we play games for fun... or to be uncomfortable?

When i first tried this thing all i did was say "ew" on the mic and left the server. That ironsight hurts my eyes

On a more serious note, I wonder how many newbs have killed me with that in DoD:S... every time I get killed with a Kar/Garand, this first thing to pop in my head is, "I bet that queer is using an aim-point.

being a rifle man.. i must say that i very rarely use the iron sights, infact, only to kill proned people or mg/sniper at distance... so unless people are using the rifles like sniper rifles, they shouldn't need the ironsight that much...

standing still like a muppet is gonna get you killed, especially at league level, so the iron sights are pretty useless imo

Being a rifle man, I pretty much use the IS all the time, usually whenever I round a corner I know that is feeding into a back open chokepoint. Also for picking MG's and Snipers at a distance, or even just to scope out an alleyway. I've gotten use to not having the feeling of landing shots un-ironsighted, so I've become more comfrotable with bringing the sights up more often. I can do some voodo with it too, whereas my friend who is a Kar fanatic up the ying-yang, cannot see how I do such shots with the Garand.

no offense to whomever did that. but that looks f**king gay, and i agree that is virtually cheating!

my point in showing it... was to show that you can change the defult IS rather alot..... those for those who were complaining about it, its possible to fix for them :)


and i prefer constant movement and lots of shots, to standing still with the IS, especially with the garand :)

If you don't like this model and you think its cheating, you better get your ass on a server that enforces model consistancy or join a competition that enforces it.

Because any nitwit can edit the normal maps to make players glow or make them green or what have you. This is far from "virtually cheating". You still have to aim, you have roughly the same area of which to aim. Putting a big red dot over the centre is an iron sight crosshair, infact thats the point of Aimpoints.

thing is there is no way to enforce stock models in source, sv_consistency 1 is only applicable to text files and not custom content, and telling people, who think the use of aim points in a ww2 themed game is a bit cheap, to go die is a bit strong.

I could just as easily say if you want to use modern types of scopes/aim points then go play cssource

Well, thats just not true, there are server side plugins that enforce 100% consistancy checks with models.

As for the Cs Source, who wants to play that <3<3<3<3 anyway? Thats the danger you make when you play any game

if you dont want to play cssource why play with custom models that make the game look like source? about the plugin, how many servers use that? and how can you tell if they do, when you use default thats all you see, you dont see what model other players are using. Besider whos going to join a server that makes you download lots of files easy to make it a server side variable and up to the server op.
