odd shadows

in a map i just made there are black lines along the ground. sort of like a shodow.
when i get close they vanish and they seem to extend from corners of buildings, across the floor.
is there a way to stop this?

without seeing what is happening its hard to say, try buildcubemaps

If it is what i think your talking about then it is projected shadows from an entity that projects dynamc shadows, usually prop_dynamic or a physics entity
This is usually fixed by just reloading the map after building cubemaps
