You don't have permission to access /files/Mr-Softy/dod_dli_football_b1.exe on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

i get that when i try to download.

In reference to you aggreement terms:

Please do not change this .exe file.

If you wish to re host it somewhere please leave this .exe file as it is!

I was going to host it on our website, but seing you specifically ask to not repackage the exe then it's a no go. No hosting and won't bother even looking at the map. I will never host a exe from someone else. I want the ability to garanty what is being install. Sorry.

Can't beleive ppl putting such restriction.

To echo what CoolHand says, you should bear in mind that most of the people that download these maps (and certainly your "target audience") are server admins.

Personally I prefer zip or bzip2 on a non-redirected host, this means I dont have to download the map to my pc to then upload to our linux servers, I can just log in to server and use wget to download it straight to server.

This for me is much quicker, cheese sarnie's new map came down at 6.46MB/sec which is roughly equivalent to someone having 52Mb Broadband!

One other point, you don't need to include the res file in your res file, it is of no use to the client and doesnt need to be sent.

Map looks like a fun idea, you could maybe try it with a mattie plugin to make all the players invincible so their shots all go towards the football.

Such a pity we don't have flexible objective code in Hammer, you could have done it so if the ball goes in the goal it triggers round end. (....not that the US would ever beat Germany at football ;))

One question though, who throws it back when it goes over the fence.

Hey Mr.Softy

Most admins who repackage a file do so for quality control purposes before they host the file for download or upload to their servers.

Could you explain why you are asking that your .exe file not be repackaged?

anyone scanned it for trojans/worms/keyloggers??

makes me very suspect

Hmm I was thinking more along the lines of copyright. Maybe MrSofty wants to ensure that no one else claims or implies credit for his work.

Probably because he want to make sure his name is present in the exe the same way he put a txt file for the credit in a res file. I don't think it's for any other reason.

Still for me it's normal that if we host it, the minial thing is to repackage it to approove the content and stick for it for a virus free exe. I always repackage the readme file in it and if the name is readme, I always rename it map_name_reamme so the file can live longer on a hard disk. A file called reame.txt get erase by the next readme file lolllll

Maybe he will post back and tell us it's ok to repackage it if we include the credit, that would make more sense to me :D

Thing is i personally wouldnt download it yet. Ive just found out that the Germans cant acctually capture the flag, so basically its abit pointless to play on the axis.

another is if you shoot the ball back outta the net it blows u up aswell.

am fixing all this in the latest update though.

The best way to put credits in a DOD map is to make an overview, put your credits in it, and packrat/MAN it in the map. :D
