In old dod i saw levels with AI firing mgs.
can mgs be set up in dod source to fire on any target that gets too close, or shoots at a moving target (a train), as supression fire?

iun a map in dod 1.3 i saw a tank wich was in the middle of the map, that would shoot the opponent trying to cross the map. it would have to be bazookad a couple times before you could advance.

That's really cool....I wish you could find the name of that map so I could take a look at it.
As for MGs mowing people down, I remember it most vividly in the map dod_dayofdays_b3, where the Allied MG would mow down the Axis when they got too close to spawn. There was actually a player model manning the AI machine gun, which added to the immersion factor.

total possible I'm sure, though AFAIK there's no AI of any sort in DOD:S (except stupid bots) so it'd have to be all triggers.
Trigger an kill with sound of MG which comes from the direction of a deployed 'MG' that also triggers a sprite of muzzle-flash..

is it possible to put a trigger that only kills 1 team, allies or axis?

it is posible to do that using hurt_triggers and filtering them correctly. U will find some DODs maps that use them for spawn protection, and when the allies enter the axis spawn, they either immediatly die, or start losing alot of health.
I have used them myself in a few maps, and I'd be happy to share my .Vmf file with you.

Download my map dod_sora and decompile it. It has spawn protection (trigger_hurt, team specific) that prevents enemies from entering spawn.

ohh cool ill grab that from fps banana and take a look. i found the models for mounted mgs so i could place one, put some kind of flash on when the hurt is triggered

Killing people for entering the enemie's spawn is stupid, just create a teleport trigger that teleports them back to their spawn when they cross the line
