I was wondering if anyone would be against some kind of Automated database (moderated of course) that would make the whole process of making the mapname listings simpler?

I have my own webserver and I could code a database for people to register and post their mapname in an automated database where they'll be able to see mapnames that are in use for DOD maps (and possibly others). It kinda sounds funny considering places like snarkpit have the same concept, but I'd make it more DOD Oriented.

What do you guys think?

well, the thread asks you to post a WIP picture of your map, so that you cant just hog a name for yourself without actually starting, working on, or finishing a map.

I could make it moderated by a few people, and mapname submission could require images... how's that?

My main issue is that it would be outside dod.net's power/forums, that's why I'm asking people here if they would agree.

Be patient, if StreamLine doesn't answer right away it doesn't mean we should scrap everything and say to hell with it. ;)
