Hey there! I'm a recent member here in the forums, LONG time mapper for HLDM, CS, CSS, HL2, and now starting with DOD:S!

dod_pillbox is one of my first maps I made to grasp the structure of the dod mapping entities (flags, control areas, etc). It's a fun little map that includes 5 capture areas and nice little trenches and tons of little gizmos that make the map feel like a real battlefield.

Here are some pics:

And it also includes a working and very DOD:S like overview!!!

I hope you'll all enjoy it.
You can download it here:

The installation instructions are included if you're not too sure where to put your maps!

Heya Dash, welcome to the DOD forums!

Your map presents a neat concept, I'm a little curious to see how it plays! Lookin good from the SS tho, so I'll definitely be taking a look for myself!!

I just had a quick run around on a lan, it should definetly be a fun map to play online. However, your overview doesn't seem to work, i just got an empty transparent box?

I'll run it tonight at 8pm Eastern on our Server for anyone who's interested in trying it out.

Have you put the overview files in their right directory? The installation.txt file says where... it should work:confused:

You know its possible to include the overview files into the .bsp.

Pakrat (http://www.geocities.com/cofrdrbob/pakrat.html) is your friend.

You should add a .res file for servers...

Alrighty, don't worry about the non-working overviews anymore.

I played on the UPA Server with people that gave me helpful critics to make the map better. I'm already working on dod_pillbox2, hopefully it will be heaps better :)

Will be looking forward to your next release.
This map was on our server for testing but due to the map having NO spawn protection it was removed.

Suggestion: Make one more trench behind the current spawn area just for spawning where the other team cannot enter.

This is a fun map with lots of possibilites. Keep up the good work and we are awaiting RELEASE 2. Thanks.

Edit: Spawn problem being addressed...HERE. (http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=64293)Thanks, as this was the only reason it was not run on our server.

I'll wait for your next release, but this looks interesting.

I nearly jumped out of my seat thinking this was a remake of dod_2pillboxes...someday maybe.

Look forward to playing it!

Hi Dash,

I played your map last night, it's funa and players enjoyed very much.

Do you have 32 spawn points? I tested on 20 player server, but like to try it out on my two 32 players server.

You might need to review spawn camping concern, it might get ugly and out of control on the server.

Again good job!!!

Cheers, Kurt

There are 44 spawn points in the map (22 per team) so it'll work on a 32 player map.

Somebody remade dod_2pillboxes about 2-3 months ago. We have it on our server.

But it wasn't Nipper and the quality isn't very good.
