DODS (and other games such as GoldenEye) use red bars to indicate the direction that you're taking damage.
Would it be possible to change the damage.vtf to something like the "blood splat on a windshield" effect:

Have you ever played the House of the Dead games, when you get hit by different things there are marks on the screen. Basically I think he means soemthing that looks liek a blood splatter like the blood decals, but on the direction indicator

There isn't one.
The control over this is found in two files in the dod\scripts folder.
HudAnimations.txt... (event HudTakeDamageLeft and event HudTakeDamageRight)
And HudLayout.res (HudDamageIndicator).
I have not played with it in detail yet... looks a bit harder than just editing one VTF :)

True that's what I found out also.
It's not possible to add images to events like this right?

Is there anyone who got more info on this yet?
There should be a vtf for it, but can't really find it.

I looked at it briefly
from what I can tell it appears to tell the game engine to actually draw it - it's not referencing a VTF file or even a sprite or font. I might be reading it wrong.

Hm yeah that's what crossed my mind also.
But don't recall it's been used in other ways in hl2 and the other source games though, so that's why I thought it WAS a texture file.
Because it's not just a square with one side fading away I think it's probably not drawn, cause of the coordinates of the shape.
I'm could be wrong ofcourse but I got the feeling it's not something I see the engine do, well it could but it seems to advanced to me cause I can't remember seeing this before.
But on the other hand why not.
I really like to have more info bout this, and why no image is used (for mod purposes), and then again, maybe for that purposes it's not used, cause you could make it transparant and could have an advantage.
