different skin for each class

Is it possible to have a different skin for each class?
So that sniper has more cammo for example.
I tried to find out how the class-skin system works and where to find the settings, but I think each class loads the same model, so same skin but just gets another weapon.
But again, can this still be done somehow?

This can be and has been done for quite some time now.

Just go into the "releases" section of the forums and download any of the skin packs that have different skins for each class.

I can find the 101 airborne pack but that one has other models and skins that are a bit difficult to create your own skin from, well at least more difficult than the standard skin.

So is there a pack that contains different (plane/without dirt etc.) skins with the standard axis/allies models?

I am using a skin pack with different skins per class. The files are labelled:

american_boda
american_bodb
american_bodm
american_bodr
american_bods
american_bodt

From the readme:

american_bodr - rifleman
american_bodm - machinegunner
american_boda - assault
american_bodb - bazooka
american_bods - sniper
american_bodt - support

Is that any good to you?

That looks like the 101 airborne pack, but if it's just the normal models or at least "plain" skins then I'm interested.
Can you give me some info/link about the pack if you are not sure.

EDIT: Can you have skins for each class without changing or replacing the models, so like just putting a vmt and a vtf file in the skin dir with the name of "american_boda" so it will automaticly be replaced or do you have to install modified models for it to work?

The models aren't new; it's just the normal plain DoD:S ally hacked so that different skins can be placed on the different classes.

If you're trying to skin using the default skins you can do that still. Then you would just have to rename it to the certain player class.
___________________________

For example: Download the custom models used for different class skins. (Can be found in many packs) Then duplicate the default valve skin 6 times. Rename each one to the corresponding names (excluding the quotes):

"american_bodr" (rifleman)
"american_bodm" (machinegunner)
"american_boda" (assault)
"american_bodb" (bazooka)
"american_bods" (sniper)
"american_bodt" (support)

Now you have different class skins, but since you haven't reskinned any yet, they all appear to be default. Now you can reskin only one at a time while keeping all the others the default skin. Repeat this process to achieve 6 different skins for each class.

It sounds confusing, but it really isn't. If you need help just PM me.
