Can we gather a list of maps that have been beta fo far too long and are no longer being worked on are are never going to be finished. If you have made a map that you know is never going to get finished can you add it to the list. Or if your not goingot do anymore work on it can you finalize it. This will help servers who only run finalized custom maps. Thank you.

Easily enough, only run any map that doesn't have a "_b?" or "rc?" after their name. That's one way to make sure they're final.

That doesnt' leave you with much.

Indeed, there is a rampant problem with mappers releasing a beta version of a map, and then never touching it again. Why call it a beta at all then?

The problem is, it's very likely that the same issues that made them forget about the map are the same issues that will make them miss this thread entirely.

because mapping it a lot of work. they may release the map with plans to update it again in the future, but either they lose interest or just have lack of time to finalize it. just appreciate the fact that this community actually has active mappers.

I was asking for a list not a reason why maps aren't finished. I know why some maps are unfinished, cause it does take an enormous amount of time to get it right. I just want a list of maps that will never be finalized by the original author. If the map is never going to be finalized why not make the last beta the final version.Or if the author would allow someone to finish the map for them, that would be even better as long as the map isn't completely changed beyond recognition. I am in no way trying to force mapmakers to hurry up and finish with their projects, i just want to know which maps aren't going to be finalized, so people can run a server where the player has to downnload a map only once.

Speaking for myself, which is something I do from time to time, I don't have a problem downloading multiple builds of a map. It kinda goes with the territory with enjoying custom maps.

Any previous versions, I suppose I could just delete their BSP's so they don't take up any space.

At any rate, it'll probably be a hard list to finalize, itself. Isn't that ironic!! :p
