I've been fiddling around in photoshop and It's come to my attention that I am really bad at making any sort of realistic cloth texture. I've seen two tutorials on Sourceblog and one from an old quake skin site, but I need some more tutorials on how to create clothing. Specifically tips on doing proper shading and how to do fine details like stitching and pockets.

Strange that you didnt find any of the information off the sites you mentioned useful. They usually have some pretty good tutorials. Keep searching the internet until you find one (a tutorial) that fits your needs. I found many useful ones that I used on my custom skins. Good luck to you.
