Wehrmacht Soldier Axis Player Skin

Putting the final touches on this project. I completely redid Wile Coyote's high resolution Sturmann Josef skin. Added a large amount of my own stuff to it. I only kept the face and boots the same, although I made the boots darker. All the axis player models out there seemed to be a drab grey color so I created a realistic green version for this project from old color WWII pictures. What most people dont seem to realize is that although the name for the color is fieldgrey, it is anything but grey. Its more of a green color with a tint of grey. A lot of people think that the Germans only fought in these grey shaded uniforms and camo, but really the uniforms were largely green in color. I added new collar patches, insignia, chinstrap, decals, buttons, helmet liner, boot sole, belt and buckle. I've put a lot of hours into perfecting it but if any of you notice something please do email me.

Whoops! Yeah, 2048! In too much of a hurry I guess ;) Too lazy to change it hehe. Yeah these skins look absolutely amazing ingame, and I'm not just saying that because I made them :D They really do! Wile's model as a template saved me a lot of work and time and he did a great job. I think if he sees these he will like the changes I made. I'm just waiting now for my account on DoD Network File Manager to upgrade so I can host the files for upload. Shouldnt be long now I hope!

Looks good.

A word about the original colors I choose. The reason I did not make the uniform with a more greenish tint in the first place is very simply because of the way Source lights things up. Many maps will end up ADDING, or multiplying if you will, any green tint you give it, usually making it WAY too green. (I use the above photos to state my case ;) and the default Garand skin too) Those just look too green when the map lighting hits them. Since the German uniforms ran the gamut between blueish-gray and greenish-gray, I specifically choose the the blueish-gray knowing that in many of the DOD:S maps they would end up having a green tint to them due to the map lighting (however it turned out to be a lot less than I thought). Either color scheme, BTW, is historically accurate. Not all uniforms had a greenish tint. It depended a lot on the manufacturer.

I hope you understand I'm not picking on your skin - it is very nice; I'm explaining to the community an oddity I noticed with the Source engine lighting.

I know exactly what you mean Wile. Half of the time I spent on this project was spent redoing and changing the green color for the uniforms. Very time consuming indeed! Most of them looked fluorescent when I first tried them out. Imagine my surprise. However after many trials and errors I finally found the right color. You'll see once I upload the files that there is nothing wrong with the color. Even when the light hits the green it is a very similar color to the reference photos I posted if you were to compare the two. I think you will be quite surprised. Thanks for the replies, guys!

I prefer more of the blue-grey ones. But these will turn out good in the end..

My only problem with this is: Did the rank insignia (private) appear on both arm sleeves?
