BAR w/ folded bipod

I took a while to scan about for similar threads, but was relatively unsuccessful.
Anyways, what I miss most about the overall feel of the BAR in it's progression from 1.3 to Source is the look of the folded bipod. I'm not at all familiar with modelling and so on, but I don't imagine it is too hard of a job to add the extra polygons onto the default model. If it is a huge job, then I apologise, and excuse my ignorence.
So yea. If possible, a BAR with a bipod in the folded position would be great. Obviously the bipod wouldn't do anything, it would just sit there and make me feel like a god while I mow down the kraut :)

The problem is slings have to be animated too. Unless somehow you could use the engine's rope mechanics for it.
I'll have a go at a bipod when I get my 3DSMax working or get familiar enough with SoftImage XSI (if nobody beats me to it :)).

Cool, you're a saint. Slings don't bother me particularly, so don't worry in the slightest about making one. A simple bipod will be perfect :D

What's the use in adding a dead object to a weapon? The Bipod NEEDS to be active and usable. It would make up for the balance issues with the STG's huge clip and the BAR's tiny one and unreal reload time. It's like the character reloading the gun is taking his time...

They had this nuclear rocket you could get in hard to reach places, and you could get a rocket-eye-veiw! that'd be good in dod, it'd really solve some balance issues!

Slings seem like too much effort to make for just a strap. And w_models don't have animations, so the sling would become solid.
Anyway. Invaliduser, if you don't think it is a good idea, don't bother posting. Nobody is forcing you to use a BAR with an unsuable bipod. It's just something that I think the weapon lacks visually.
Anyone made any progress on this yet?

Finding someone to compile it won't be the big problem. Finding an animator for your carbine probably will be. There aren't many people who do that.

Same skin, changed the tint colour (default is greenish), also changed the brightness and contrast. Lowering the resolution would probably make it fit better too.

is what you should do is make the bipod down and get a good animater so when you walk it will like move around. If youve played battlefeild 2(animations are the fecking best!!!) the bipod on some of the guns are down and when you walk the slide around and stuff.

Something seems to have gone funny in the compile I have, the shoot animation is a lot less bouncy and it actually makes it feel like there is less recoil. I guess you could say it's the added bipod weight :rolleyes:.

I can't imagine compiling a world model would be too difficult: hack on the bipod from the view model, twist and turn and scale to fit, tell it to use a lower res texture and then compile with the original BAR physics model. Shame that a world model skin isn't available for Forral's BAR anyway (hint hint? :) )
But yet the view model looks great. I can't wait to try it.

As far as I've gathered, PR0PEN wants to use a second skin on the bipodded BAR, having finished it with the default skin.

Ok, basically here is my request:
The current BAR model doesn't have a bipod, which is something I miss from the old DoD 1.3 model. So I asked if a folded up version of the bipod just be attached to the default model. It didn't have to do anything, it would just be there for looks.
If you would be willing to take a bash at this I would be forever grateful. PR0PEN started modelling, and to all effects, he and Forral finished and skinned the model, but it never got released.
So there you go. Please have a go if you could :)

Editor, I love it. Not so fond of the Iron Sight but the bipod is tight. I agree with Staker, I would use it if you released it as it is, but I would prefer it without the IS.
