so i've finially taken hammer out and started remaking my unreleased 1.3 map, dod_hectic.

thats all i've gotten so far, the big blank areas are just walls with a nodraw on it cause i havn't gotten to those points yet.

I am loving the dead cow cap point, try to add just a few more dead ones spread throughout that little area.

heh, i'd love to take credit for that one but i can't :-P i told my clan that i would put one thing in the map that thay wanted. didn't matter what it was as long as it was a relatively small detail that didnt ruin the layout much. unfortunately that was one of the guy's ideas :-P when i release it il put the list of stuff they wanted up.

haha, dead cow objective, awesome.

To be nitpicky, the lack of roads bothers me. I don't like seeing houses in the middle of field.

Houses look good.

yea im trying to get roads down there, dirt roads, but right now im more worried about the buildings, cause thats the part im pretty bad at.

Looking like a good start. Couple of things: in this pic


the door looks enormous compared to the windows, doesn't really work for me given that it is a small building.

And the plasterwall textures you're using in the buildings, for instance this: http://panfrie.zergs.com/dod_hectic/ScreenShots/dod_hectic0012.jpg , are (in my opinion) exterior building textures rather than interior.

Anyway good start get cracking.

yea, right after i took thos screenshots i changed the interior walls in there. i also worked on gitting the farmhouse inside textured up, cause it was all noclip textures and real confusing once you got inside... you couldnt see any walls :-P il probly gets the updated shots up tomorow

Good work. Still needs work such as roads. Maybe a pillbox. Think itd be funny if u put more dead cows in the field just because itd be funny seeing n00bs trying to cap the other cows and laying pronein them.

Does not take it badly but I find that your map is square too much, I do not see or you want to come from there, the light is not terrible, all seems insipid, dead. I really wait to see the continuation for better judging! Good continuation.

yea, alot of the lights ATM is just so that i can actually see what i did. im gonna fix all that up later, as well as the road.

its only in the spawn zone, which are huge, but i made everyone spawn close to the end so you dont have run a mile and a half to get there

Looks good so far, and I've only been through it in very basic format. The only thing that I would consider is perhaps making more of the buildings accessible and/or complete cut-throughs to the other side of the map.

Many times, I felt the urge to cut through a building, but it either dead-ended or wasn't accessible at all.

what do you mean by cut-throughs? there are 2 buildings you can get into, and there both for a vantage point over the center flag. all the others are just for show.

im almost ready for a full play-test to see how the gameplay is, ive added a road to it, added models to the buildings so they look nicer, and pretty much finished it off. im hoping for a release at the start of march break

there wont be a 3d skybox yet, no mini-map, but i would love if someone could make one for me, even just the outline, i wanna make it look nice. but yea, tomorow afternoon its out for the first beta.

ok.. i lied... no release this afternoon... maybe tonight... im compiling again cause i found something i missed. its at 75% through the really long vis thing... i forget what its called and it will take 10 minutes to find out... and im going on 2 hours of compiling!!!! man this is taking a while... i have nothing to do either :-(

anyway.. lets hope i havnt finished anything and i can release when its done
