Skin is good, 1903 springfield's were probably blued (that does not mean the look blue), not parkerized, during WW2 so the darker metal is actually accurate here. Excellent skin job as usual.

intersted to see how well the sling works, but I must confess I probably won't use that model due to the way slings just never look quite right (if they did they would be polygon eating mnsters)

very nice skin but I think you missed a part, the switch to cut off the mag from the bolt is missing lettering.

K a few problems Ive seen, 1 is the scope lens is really really dirty, its like a small peice of metal in there rather then glass.
2 is that the muzzle flash is off by about, well in screen 2 inches, its down and to the left, so might want to fix that.

Awesome job, only thing is I wouldn't have made the normal a 2048x2048, its a little large for just a rifle.

I've got the purple skin thing going on on this gun. I've searched the forums and have narrowed it down to the normal maps not working quite right, but it's weird since I have many reskins with normal maps and none have this purple problem. In fact, the only reskins that seem to have this problem are PR0PEN's reskins. All of [SLHR]Gen's skins (BAR, Garand) work fine, but as soon as PR0PEN gets involved everything gets purple. What's the deal? :confused:

I compile the normals vtf with alpha........I dont know man try with this in console "mat_bump...... 1"

Do you have VTFEdit? If not get it, if so, just make your own to your own suiting, just import the original texture, but click generate normal map in its own box. Leave everything the way it is for the most part, but change the amount to whatever you think is best, I prefer anywhere from 3-6. After that, just save it as whatever the original normal map was called, and then you have normal maps that you like, and will work.

Got the normals working, but I had to redo the .vmt completely.

Downloaded VTFEdit. Took a look at the springfield.vmt and compared it to my other custom weapons .vmt's (namely Gen's garand and bar). Started a new .vmt from scratch... copied/pasted garand code... changed file pathnames to match.

All is well.

then what did I do wrong, I guess its just me,

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\name\day of defeat source\dod\models\weapons

all 6 files are in the materials springfield folder, funny thing is Ive never had any problems with your releases, never been purple or fed up normals but this one just has its just this one.

I dont notice the muzzleflash because I really only fire the Spring in scoped mode...you know...the way its supposed to be fired?

Unfortunatley, much like every other skin i download, the normals have played up, and its come out pink!
