First of all I want to start somewhere... But everything is way to complicated, and it's making me mad. I know nothing about these programs, exporting, importing, shading or anything of that sort. Alls I need is a complete retards guide to modeling... Does anyone have a modeling program that gives STEP by STEP instructions a retard could follow? I've tried all the tutorials they go to advanced extremley quick, assuming you know everything. Please help me :P. And please give me a FREE program.

Well if you want to model for Source the only "free" programs are either going to be the SoftImage XSI Mod tool or Blender. XSI is the preferred tool as its what Valve use. Blender is Open Source and has community made add-ons for Source modelling but their still in development.

If you want a total beginners guide you probably need to start at the very beginning with basic primitives and manipulation, something which is common to all 3D programs.

http://www.milkshape3d.com/ has a tutorials list which demonstrates some basic stuff and you can get a 30 day trial of Milkshape3D from the website. It was originally written for Half Life modelling and does work with HL2 but isn't as powerful as other packages.

If you want to give XSI a try, there are a couple of tutorials on the Valve developer wiki (http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Category:Modeling).

You can download Softimage XSI at http://www.softimage.com. It's a bit complex but very powerful.

If it's prop modelling you're interested in, I wrote an A to Z tutorial on the subject a while back:
