Rain and snow in DOD source

Why haven't anymaps been made with rain or snow. I know the source engine is capable of nice rain ala Counterstrike. I have played on maps that have thunder in the distance, on a bright sunny day with no clouds or asingle drop of rain.

I think they may be waiting to work out some of the resource hungry issues first. As of this moment I'll bet rain/snow would be a big FPS eater.

Well it is raining lasers, yeah...but that is so far the closest I have seen to a rain map lol.

I don't think it's worth it, really. Overcast skies would be better than rain for fps. Most custom maps struggle with FPS as it is anyway.

Actually, technically speaking, it's the video cards that struggle for FPS. in the next year or so, as the engine gets older and cards get newer, this will be less of an issue.
