I've been using this pack for a long
time now and just had a go at it after
learning to reskin. I tried to make the
uniforms look like the Waffen SS troops
in the battle of Rommel in Saving Private Ryan.
I think they came out very nice.....
Hope you like em :D

Fair play for having a go but I don't see anything that would make me change from crusaderazn's originals

Player is capitolized, would that matter?

I'm using some custom weapons skins, and they're working fine, so I'm not completely retarded :o

Still default grey  this is killin me.

This pack is just skins right? Should there be anything in "\day of defeat source\dod\models\player\" ?

::edit:: Just installed your allied skins with no problem. Very weird.

::edit again:: got it. Installed another axis pack (late war) that included models, they work with your skins as well. Thanks for all the help guys!

Make sure you're installing to \player\german\ and not just \player\

LJFSP; how I got it to work:

Download and install these guys: http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=61436

Just the axis is all you need. Then replace the files in day of defeat source\dod\materials\models\Player\german with 82ndfrags skins.

man...I am just plain having bad luck with these skins I want use. I did what you said about first installing the latewar skin pack and then putting the berlich reskin pack in and i guess you can say it worked or atleast kind of.....the problem is that all the german players look the same. they all look like the rifleman or the assualt. the support and the mg don't have thier metallic dark grey helms. could this also be the same problem i mentioned in the 101st airborne thread? the missing "body.vtf" files? I also want to use these a lot? If anyone could help me out I would really appreciate it:(

yeah, i used wile E's then replaced the models with yours, but like i said in the post above, the models all look the same the sniper, mg and the assault don't have their little distictions like in the screen shot you have posted. I really like how you updated them with the metallic helms combined with the camo helms, just want to know how to get all of them to work :( cause when i use wile E's or propens all my classes look like the support class.

Here is a silly question (or maybe not so silly since it made a huge difference in old DOD) -

Did you buy a store version or download off Steam?

because what is happening is the hacked models are not working properly for you and I'm not sure why. (they are not my creation)

Alrighty, here goes nothin lol....

After a while I somehow got rid of the player models I had located in the "materials/models/player" directory, I was using my
US Pack along with this pack. I had problems with this pack after
that lol, things werent showing up properly/showing just 1 type
of player for every class. Of course I had forgot all about the models, which are essential to have a pack work properly. So thats why I made my 3rd Infantry skin, I wasnt sure what the hell was goin on lol. So after readin this thread again, I tried downloading Wile E & Rascal's Late War Pack for the models only.
So after downloading that, I just cleared
my "models/players" folder and put the models from the late war pack in there and then put my vtfs, vtms etc. in my
"materials/models/players" folder. After that, both my "screwed up" Axis [this pack] and my US pack [my US pack lol] worked once
again!!!

So thats basically the works....

Btw, this all hapened today
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA!!! :D

Hope that clears out things for everybody :carrot:

I d/l ed dod source and regular off of steam. but man thats messed up, i cant just see why you don't have the body.vtf's like in other custom skin packs but oh well. Thanks for your help anyway.

man what ever happened to just draging and dropping two files in to your player/axis.inf folder lol now we have to have 15 to 20:eek:

Mickey Knox
02-22-2006, 08:35 PM
ok....I just have one more question. If I install Wile E's axis skins what files should I replace with yours 82nd? Just the .vtf's and .vtm's or what? cause i replaced all the files with yours the only ones from wile's that remained were the body.vtf files which are the files that you are missing from yours 82nd. but that did not work. And I know its not my dod because i can use other custom skins fine when they have their proper files, and you just simply drag and drop. It just has to be me not installing your skins with wile's properly or you just are missing files in your pack. I don't know.

Mickey Knox

omg...my third post in a row....err i should think things through before i post, i know. OK..... so i take wile E's late war pack and extract the axis player models not the skins but the models in to my player folder, and then extract yours (82nd's) axis skin files and place them into my player/german folder. would this be correct to get all the player classes to work/show up properly?

Ok I just did what i asked you in the post above. still default skins. I know its a missing file or something, a german_body.vmt it looks like or something....i don't know

Ok, I'll tell ya all ya need to know Knox..... :carrot:

1.) Clear out these two folders,
"dod/materials/models/player/german" and "dod/models/player".

2.) Download Wile E & Rascals Late
War pack.

3.) Take all the german models, from the "models" zip,
and put them into the "dod/models/player" folder.

4.) Then when you are sure you have all of the german model files in the "dod/models/player" folder, open up your
"dod/materials/models/player/german" folder and put all of my
german vtfs and vtms in the folder.

5.) If it doesnt work, check to see that you didnt miss any files or have any extra files when adding the new files.

If that still doesnt work, I honestly have no idea
how to help....

Hope that solves your problems.... :D

I do appreciate your patients with this. but i did that and still know results cause of what has to be a missing body.vtf or .vtm

Oh well....thanks for your help though.

The only other thing I can ask you in order to
help ya is if by some chance you have some
folder in your dod folder that might be conflicting
with these skins, but if all else fails.... use my
Sturmmann Josef Reskin :D Seriously, thats what
I'm usin lol ;)

Mickey Knox
02-23-2006, 03:53 PM
those are nice skins and i will probably use them but man....I like the ones you reskined because of how you made each class have their own look. I like the camo covers on the helm and how two of the classes have regular dark grey helms. Man their right there but cant use :( lol

The problem is simple though.....your missing the german_body.vtf
Every custom skin I used for dod source that worked for me had this file, example american_body.vtf in the 101st pack. this pack dosen't have it. I can't see any other explanation cause all the ones everyone has post did not help...

Download Cruz's pack, take his german_body files and pop
them in there..... that should work ;)

It seems that you don't have the "custom" models that are suppose to go with this pack. Idk if they are included in the download or not, but you can get those models from any other of the german packs that feature different attire for each class.

the problem is not the models cause i tryed using all kinds of models like wile's, propens, including the ones your showing me right now. the problem is a skin file is missing. a file in the german folder is missing, a body.vtf file or something, but it has the name body in it. and every custom skin i used that actually works has one of these files, this skin dosen't and it dosen't work. i don't know for sure if this is the problem, but i am guessing yes, since none of any one elses conclusions worked yet. and i don't know how to fix this problem if this even is the problem..

It's the models. The "german_body.vtf" isn't even need with any of these packs. So if you actually need that file for it to work, the models are the problem.

If you installed the models correctly, it is even possible to delete "german_body.vtf" and have the skins work properly.

man i am stumped then, cause i installed the models correctly. i mean you place them in the player folder and thats it. hmmmm...
