Hi everyone, I have not posted here in a long time, but I'm still here haha. I just built a new computer for christmas (ASUSk8n 3500+ 1 gb giel dual channel UltraX and a 6800gs) and last week I went and purchased Half Life 2 which I love by the way. :) I decided to check out what the new hammer and source sdk has to offer so I downloaded that about 5 days ago and here is my map that I have been working on. I have always dreamed about making a ramelle map so heres what I got so far. Before Half Life 2 this was a very long shot, but hopefully I'l be able to do what I can with the source engine. Please post any ideas or suggestions because thats what i need most here. http://img507.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ramellealpha2up.jpg

Note: This is an EXTREME ALPHA and I'm still working on a crapload of buildings still, so sorry about all the blank areas. I'm also using strictly half life 2 textures which sorta blows. If ANYONE would like to contribute, an expierenced texture artist would be wonders.

Thanks -Mikeb

good work so far man
a lot of ppl have attempted a ramelle map. sadly, they rarely finish. so best of luck to you.
btw, although u may be limited, those textures u have chosen seem to fit great.

At the moment it looks like a completely bombed out map. I haven't seen any maps like that yet. So this one will be very interesting if you keep it that way.

yeah haha, what was that like 3 years ago? Unfortanately for me someone who was in my digital imaging class in school deleted EVERYTHING that I had been working on with dod_suze, it was looking very good too. Il post another update tonight.

OMG I remember dod_suze!! Someone had "Still waiting for dod_suze jk :)" in their sig I think for ages didn't they?

That really does bring back memories. Suze was an awesome map, get working on it a gain you slacker! When you've finished the ramelle map, of course!

Yes, you've got the ruined building look down to a tee. But you might want to work next on smoothing up the ground, maybe add some more rubble textures to the piles of dirt etc.. but good stuff keep it up

I assure you, Mike knows what he's doing. He did his homework in terms of accuracy for dod_suze. I cannot even imagine what he will have in store for source.

Yeaaaa MikeB looking good! I'm really liking the detail you're putting in. My only worry is, the texturing and details should be put in last, except since you've got plenty of reference material to work from you know where you're going so you shouldn't have to rearrange anything. Also, shouldn't that 'suze' building be on an angle, sticking out, or haven't you put it in yet? :)

Keep up the good work.

I'd like to get some more work done on my map and post it here, once i get some proper images together.

yeah it should be at an angle, in fact the whole side of the street starting at the suze building is at an angle, but when you have streets that run at those sort of angles with lots of detail VIS tends to get screwy and portals get really choppy so ill see what i can do about it.
