Now its time to release the dod_panic_b2 port !
(some people can perhaps still remember the old map)
the new orders:
------------
Germany 1945..
Americans cross through "Thueringen" near "Muehlhausen"
a small group Germans represents still an strong resistance
also another "Nebelwerfer" thing must be destroyed now.
Good Luck!

I have a long time worked on it and i hope we have good fights
and much fun !

*Update!*

..to panic_v2 , now an version without custom victory sounds !

for those want the sounds back , here the files : panic_victory_sounds.zip (http://speicher.trclan.de/ernst/files/panic_victory_sounds.zip)
(but remember , they replace the default ones on each map!)

other changes : 1x house rework, added fences behind spawn clips, 1x playerclip deleted, brush numbers reduced

Please re-download the map, thank you !

i like it !! finally someone using the cows and nebelwerfer :P

plays nice as far as i could test.

only complaint: there's invisible walls at spawn. i would have put some fence around it or something.

Thanks happyernst :)

It retains the cool axis and allies win tunes from the 1.3 version, this is good...BUT.. now the client has those win tunes as their default ones, so every map there after they hear the ones from this map.

Maybe if you do another release you could perhaps name them differently to avoid this :)

Besides this, its a very good port! :)

Is there any way for me to return the victory sounds back to default on the server-side? Many players just aren't educated enough to fix it themselves.

Also, I do have 2 issues with this map:

1) The center truck is gone. Hiding in it was the main pucker-factor area of the map. Maybe have it towing the Werb gun?

2) Frame rates aren't total garbage like CR44, but they are still hard on the eyes with the average system.

i am done now with that dod:s Winsound system ... :(

itīs not possible to activate my (renamed) sounds without manipulating default files like "game_sounds.txt" .
I also tryed the winsound code in "soundscapes_dod_panic.txt"
with the result of an default_and_custom_disco mix ...!
that means i need to release an panic version with only the default win sounds like all other maps ... "args"
---

@Bocasean: thx for critism you right , i also hope we have an Opelblitz soon ..

for the server fix , i dont have an idea .. maybe it will works you create the "sound/ambient/german_win.mp3" & "us_win.mp3" (default) files on you server separately .
but i think i update the *.bsp now....

We played this map last night on our server and overall I think everyone was please with the gameplay of the map. Everyone else touched on the issues we had:

1) End of round sounds would be replaced for the duration you were in steam after playing.

2) The invisible entries into spawn kill zones is...well...annoying, but you learn your lesson like a dog with an invisible fence. =)

otherwise we liked the map quite a bit.

Funny...my last name is Ernst...I wonder if we are related?!

Only server? *LOL* ;)
It has been running on SunLit Games since its release.

We are delighted to feature new releases
and have been supporting custom content, for the HalfLife and now Source engine, going on 6 years.

Cheers

Whoa stop beating your chest there King Kong. Maybe you thought I meant only server with it in rotation, I said it was the only one RUNNING it, as in it was the active map at that moment for anyone reading the post right then.
See the link I posted (http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php?map=dod_panic&game=dod2&country=&showFull=&showEmpty=) it showed only my server at the time of the post, so if anyone was reading that post right then they knew a place to check out the map right then at that instant. I thought the link would have made it obvious what I meant, I should have made it in huge text and bold or something.

Nice lil' map !!

The ppl are sunlit are awesome, very friendly and helpful. They helped me test and prepare dod_sora for it's public release, I have nothing but good things to say about them.

Real nice map - always liked the 1.3 version. Only suggestion on the next release is to break up the vast gray wall/fence, maybe vertical columns with decorative caps.

Cheers.

Would it be possible to just make the spawns unaccesible? I hate seeing people run into no-mans-land and die...

happyernst
02-03-2006, 11:53 PM
uh i think after an small time they dont run again ..
for custommaps the best protection .
i want also the retun of spawn MGs on official maps ..

How about putting more objectives to cap? Only three objectives and all of them take too much time to cap. Also I think the spawns are too big, I would make them a little smaller. I also would like an easier way to launch rifle-grenades into the first flags from spawn.
