Custom skins for each map

Is there a way to get custom skins for each map, I know the map creator can do it by including the skins with the map, but I just want to add my own skins for certain maps. For instance if kalt or snowhill hill loads up I want to show my skins with gloves and wintercoats.
Good post, I hope it is possible.

I'm 99% sure it's not possible.

technically it's possible. If the makers of the game would code it in and include it in the next patch :).
Currently it isn't possible.

Yeah, I tried specifying a skin in the map's "res" file, it didn't work. I have to agree that would be cool if they would add support for that.
Technically, it wouldn't even be fostering hackers. The same model would be used always, just a different skin, named exactly the same but in a different folder.
for instance "....players/german/german_body.vtf"
is the default, but in the RES file of a winter themed map you could specify for it use
"....players/german/winter/german_body.vtf"
Like it was mentioned though, support would need to be coded in and I am thinking that wouldn't happen due to league concerns

How can we put in a request to the devs to add this option in the next update, i ask because they obviously don't check this forum.

Personally, i think they do read this forum aswell. But i can't say how much work it would be for something like this to be made. I can imagine the developers have other, more important problems / ideas / additions to make. I mean, you still can play the game. Its also not completly inaccurate.
Don't see me as a person who is against this idea, im all for it. As a person who has customized and edited his dod directory since the first time i started this game i'd love to see something like this. But i don't hold my breath for it :)
hum, a friend of mine is working on something very close, he has already managed to insert axis custom model in a custom map, but that goes by chance, and at this point this model remain even when the map has changed
So he's still working on it,
to be continued...

This is nice to hear, i read somewhere that it can be done, its just a certain way that the folder structure has to be.

What they could do is build the default models with little bits that get shown or hidden, depending on the map. Such as different jackets or long coats, depending on weather. I forget the technical terms for all that, I haven't done any modelling in a long time because a disk crash destroyed all my in-progress projects. Not that I was doing much important...
Groups or something?
The same way they used to have one base player model and just enable or disable different bits of equipment based on which class you were playing as. The same could apply for maps. It wouldn't be cheating at all if the default models would wear historically-accurate, weather-specific gear. Might be nice to also have gear that reflects the period of the war, such as mixing and matching uniform parts later on for the Germans. Such historical details would really add a lot of heart and soul to the game, if not anything in terms of gameplay, which leaves a lot to be desired as it is.
Of course, map-specific uniforms [and gloves on the hand models] would have to be a togglable detail so tournament servers could disable them.
I suppose improving gameplay needs to come first, though the moddelers aren't exactly doing much there, except maybe creating some new world models to suit whatever changes the coders are making. But the coders would also have to be involved.
I don't know how it's working over there in the ol' DoD offices, but this is an idea that's been brought up before and I like it very much from a customizer's point of view.
so, still the same problem :
a mapper could add to his map some custom models, the players will see them, but this models will remain in the dedicated folder, so the only way to come back to the default ones will be to delete them. At least we have tried :(

Couldn't they just scan computers used for league play?

You should be able to do this with mani...
Above warning due to failed attempt to load custom map skin ./cfg/mani_admin_plugin/skins/maps/dod_avalanche/reserved_a.txt
