Just like the old dod_simpsons map (the one with the town and nuclear plant - not just 2 or 3 buildings).

In 1.3 there were a couple of servers called Day of Strike. It played all CS maps with DoD players, and it was sweet...especially before they started protecting the spawn...de_dust in specific...lmao

Yeh I remember day of strike, good server, nice maps for when you wanted a bit of a change.
In fact it was that server that got me converting maps to dod.
I've done inferno, tides, cbble, piranesi and tweaked haircut's version of dod_dust to add a fifth flag in the underpass and add HDR.

Iīve converted quite a few maps myself... Actually ALOT of maps...
I always though Legoland was made for DoD. Hmm... This explains why in legoland2 (or 1... not sure) the rollercoaster didnīt work.
It might be a pretty good map to remake but if someone does remake it they really should change the secret room door "button".

[415]Goon made the original map for dod. If someone wants to re-make in source you can send him an email for his permission through his website;
www.adinclark.com
Click on the 4th button to the right of the compass (highlights blue) on the left side of the web page to send him an email.

Is it nessary to get permission to convert a cs map to dod ? I have done several in 1.3 without even thinking about that. I just last week did a cs source map called de_battleship_day but im still having trouble finding all the models /textures I got some errors to work out :D it will be dod_battleship_day with 3 flag points when finished . should we contact the maker of every map we convert

You should at least always try. Some have dropped off the face of the earth. They also just might have other plans for their own work...

They have a source server up as well but I don't think it has very many custom maps on it.

Thanks I will try in the future first and by the way what about editing stock maps how does the team feel about this ? because i have been adding onto flash source to create flash2 but I was wondering if it was ok or if i was going to be the biggest butt of all time for doing this ?

I've always felt that Valve's attitude to HL from the start was very much that it was open for modification, they have allowed access to the SDK and encouraged people to make maps and mods.
Its because of this we have games like Day of Defeat as initially it was a mod, a bunch of guys who tweaked the original HL to make a WW2 setting.
Its quite easy to make a bsp that cannot be decompiled but none of the HL or HL2 maps have ever had this enforced.
Typically these edited maps get used on another HL/HL2 engine game (CS maps in DoD etc) and you don't sell them on eBay or make money from the conversion in any other way so it is all to Valve benefit really, the traffic on our server lept up once we added some custom maps to the 4 standard ones.
I have tried where possible to contact the makers of custom maps before converting as a common courtesy but stock ones I always felt were open house to mess with.
That is pretty much how I felt about it I'll wait to hear from a few more people thanks:D
