well, been experimenting with 512 x 512 normal maps and I must for a fast-paced game like DOD, they do just fine.

High-res normal maps would probabaly be they way to go for a close up scripted sequnce like those in HL2 but seriously it is just not necessary in DOD:S

I put this in "previews" because this is from the new skinpack coming out soon. :D

I hope you ain't lowering the quality of you work because some people can't run it, that would be a mistake i think. Let those who complain about it get a better computer and not make people that want the best looking work miss out on your top quality reskins! For the love of god please don't :(

Lee, 512x512 normal maps not texture resolution. Plus 2048x2048 normal maps will bring even the higher-end cards to their knees...and by that I mean as low as 10fps. Believe me I tested them.

OKAY, lemme get this straight - you are saying you are running 12 different models, all using 12 different 2048x2048 textures AND 12 different 2048x2048 normal maps? Is this correct? Because this is what we are talking about when we say hi-res normal maps, and that is not what is in my skinpack.

I resized the ones in the skinpack to 512x512. Deceiver playtested the 2048x2048, not the ones that came with the skinpack. There are 12 running all at once (6 allied 6 axis) THOSE are the ones that brought his computer to a slideshow (and mine as well)
