Here's a update for Salerno. There's quite a few changes from rc1.

Changelog :

-Redid walkway-flag building
-added new spawn exit for axis
-removed many unneeded env_cubemap entities
-fixed scoring/points
-various small stuff (floating models, wave-texture etc.)
-redone some interior areas
-tightened skybox
-redid alot of middle area, axis half
-tweaked 3d skybox
-increased middle flag capzone slightly
-new minimap
-tweaked displacement-maps
-manually clipped fences, should not block bullets anymore
-redid allied spawn
-redid some of the area around axis oceanfront flag
-improved fps (!!)
-lowered filesize by a few mb

Also did some retexturing, changed some models around and so on.

It was only tested privately, then I made a lot of changes and called it rc3 :)

In the apartment when you coming down from the axis side going towards the hall that goes to the allies back alley you smack your head off the dropdown ceiling coming off the stairs.

Also, the spawn protection on the new hole going into axis spawn is easily avoided

I'm experiencing a 10-20 fps drop putting me in the low 20's in a lot of places on the map. Normal would be around 50-75.


Map feels too cramped now when leaving allies spawn, haven't tried axis. Looks-wise it is better than the stocks.

Yea, the mainstreet area (where the fountain is) can create some bad fps slowdown, I suspect because from the archway near allies 2nd you can see all the way across the map.

I was wondering really hard what could have caused a fps drop compared to rc1 :)

Do you mean this staircase? I got stuck there first time I played (coming up the stairs from centre, trying to get down to Allied 2nd) and just the angle of it seems a little strange.

Also in the same room, the picture seems to be hanging about 3 feet away from the wall judging by its shadow! Don't think any other hanging pictures have this problem (although I have noticied it on Anvil too).

Not major faults. And a great map overall, just little details you might want fixing in the final release (if there is one planned!)

hi ;)

First of all:
Great map(!)

Just one thing that "could" be optimized.
All flags except middle flag can be taken
too fast (quarter/half a second?).
This is really much too fast, as this ends
up in an idiotic "flag race" on our server,
as capturing flags will give you points in our hlstatsx.

I really hope you'll increase the capturing
time up to 5+ seconds or equal...

just my two cents.

PS: Will there be a "final" someday?

drbloed - just curious - have you ever played rr2b2 for 1.3 or prior? If you haven't, look around for the source version - rr3b3 - it's similar in route design and flag score system, and I believe it was insta's muse (the hl version), although salerno is graphically superior.
