Is someone still working actively on dod_foy?

My next project was going to be a rendition of the assault on Foy as seen in Band of Brothers (how original I know...)

I know the name dod_foy has been picked already, which would suggest someone started working on it.

I'd like to know where the project stands before I go too far on my own, and if that project has been cancelled, if I can take over the name.

The map as of now starts with the famous shelling of the woods (allies spawn in the woods), which gives enough time for the axis to occupy the key defense positions of Foy. Allies therefore must take cover during that attack, and then proceed to take over the town of Foy, which will have a certain number of flags to capture.

The objective is timed, and is to hold all flags. Axis can't capture flags once overrun.

Given your previous work, I'm already salivating about this next map....:D

Yeah, I'm working on it. I've been saddled with Error up until recently though.

But I'm back on track and was just getting ref together for the sniper house (towards end of episode).

Why can't you do it anyway? Just call it foy_assault or something. I'm sure yours will be much better. In fact, if it's not too weird, maybe I could help you with some of the reference I've already dug up.

It's actually very original because no one's done it yet. :D Now, Carentan, or Ramelle? DoD's been there. Done that. A hundred times or so.

How about dod_st-foy or stfoy?

Well, it has been done...for CoD or MoH or something...I was using this to get some ideas, but his layout is a little off from Band of Brothers:

http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~bob/levels/foy.php

The buildings look pretty good though; the "Building with the Caved-in Roof" and St. Foy look great. The church interior at the end of the episode is not St. Foy, however.

Other than that, from the (above) screenshots I don't see any of the other distinctives from the BoB ref. Like the huge house with dormers in the middle, or the double house that has three windows on the front. The big arch at the "end" of town is also what I would consider to be a huge setpiece, and is missing from his project.

The field looks nice, though. I like what he did with the haystacks and the shed in the field is picture perfect ("KRAUTS IN THE OPEN!!")

Yeah I knew about the maps for other WWII games.

I already made a couple hundred screenies from the BoB episodes, which I intend to use as reference material.

Seen as I don't want to step on other people' toes and you started it first, I'll stop my work. There really isn't much done, and I can use what I have already for my other ideas.

If you need help at any point in your making of the map, feel free of course to drop me a line. My work so far was on the forest, foxholes, and entities to make this happy place the nightmare it was...Some of the stuff I plan to use will only be available once we have Kalt anyway...

Check your PMs :)

I was gonna say that Pad See Ew was working on it over at the FNF Forums, but it would appear that Ol Noodle Head actually IS Pad See Ew.

Nothing wrong with 2 interpretations of the same battle.

Well Noodle, thx for the replies but I can't reply back as you've either disabled PMs or have been banned from using them :)

Catch me on MSN, we need to talk :)
