Force Standard Skins?

Is there a way to force the use of standard skins at the server level? I.E. allow only skins, player and weapon models originally issued with the game so all players are equally disadvantaged?

Cheers.

I belive is the server uses the command "sv_consistency 1" any custom player models are denied and only the defaults can be used.

However, I believe that you can't stop custom textures and it will only stop those which try to use any special effects which may give an advantage.

I am suprized Valve havn't still implemented a feature to load default content, as server and/or client variable. It's just about loading priority...

Yea, it'd be pretty cool if it just automatically worked too. Any content that doesn't pass consistency tests just doesn't get loaded. They could even introduce another consistency level. So sv_consistency 0 means anything goes, 1 is the way it is now (e.g. no custom player model), and 2 is only default. So server owners who are really paranoid about cheating could set it to 2.

Stopping custom textures is a bit overboard imo, even brightly colored models don't give but a slight advantage.

The problem with your logic is, that you dont see the customs model or weapons when your playing on the other end anyways. so whats the problem....... if you want forced skins go play another game.........

Because a big deal is made out of this in league play.

By not having all the same skins, players are not on the same playing field. I could make all my axis bright pink and all my allies bright yellow skinned, and have an outrageous advantage.

This is quite correct. But customization is also very important to the success of the quake engine and half-life series of games. So it's not going away anytime soon. Or EVER, hopefully. Let's face it, having a bright pink model is not NEARLY as beneficial and a hack. And the leagues are already rampant with hackers. AND leagues do require you to take a screenshot at the beginning of the round to prove you aren't using bright pink skins. So if a person is worried about unfair gameplay, forcing skins is the least of the worries.

But to answer the original question, as far as I have seen you cannot force the default skins on the client computer. Just the models. thank God

I have to agree that a non-standard skin is a HUGE advantage ...

a sniper deep in a room with a bright orange uni will be seen by one and all

players can often hide in rubble, plants, etc .. but not with a day-glow yellow suit

there is a reason that soldiers wear camouflage as opposed to orange hunting vests during battle

if this consistance setting works .. I'll use it on my server as well

It's not like you can hit them anyway.

Thats why leagues force you to take screenshots and record demos.

its easy to photoshop a screen shot and demos only show what modles the person viewing uses, not what was actually used.
