shadows turn off and on

I'm experiencing this weird issue where if I just move my player slighty in a given direction, some of my prop's shadows will turn off/on. So I can literally turn them off and on just by moving around. I've built my cubemaps.

Anyone ever have this problem before?

Heh you're really having a problem aren't you? Whats this thread's number? 4?

Are you using custom textures, or model textures? Model textures render oddly. What is casting the shadow; a prop? Detail prop; dynamic prop? World brush?

I know exactly what you mean, its even occuring with some brushes on my map. I think it has something to do with the HDR settings. Try tweaking them a bit. Try compiling the map without HDR as well and see if the problem still occurs.

I haven't had a chance to play around and try to resolve the error yet but if you find out how let us know here please!

haha, you noticed did you CS? Yeah this shadow issue is uuh, er..slightly different though.

Yep it is my props and brushes, mostly my dynamic tree props. I'm not getting any prop errors though which is odd.

I haven't been even rendering in HDR actually. This issue occurs when I run the VIS fast and the RAD normal. I should just let it run in HDR and see if it still does it.

i get a weird side effect from HDR sometimes - the sky like flashes black as i move about~ very odd =/

The sky eh? Huh, never heard that one. I've heard of the props, or brushes because they're not mapped correctly. Weird

Textures with the line "Vertexlightmapped" render like this, I had this problem a lot. Also, you shouldn't be using a prop_dynamic for trees, unless they move, they suck a lot of rendering power.

Ca-Chicken-Soup - what should I be using for the trees then in order to get a shadow casted? Static doesn't cast a shadow but dynamic does.

Also how would I know if a texture has this "Vertexlightmapped" ? I'll definetly NOT pick those if that's the case because I'm still having this issue. (check out my screenshots below) - You'll see that in one shot there's shadows and if I move the player ever so slightly, the shadows will disapear.

Another question is: Is there a way to change all of the same props (like the same trees) to static from dynamic without having to change every single one manually?
