first off hi guys, i just recently register but i have been checking out this community and ur maps for awhile now and i decided it time to dust off the old hammer and try some source mapping. i bought DOD:S awhile ago off steam but never bought hl2 just cause i played it on my bros comp and dont really play CSS. i used to map for dod 1.3 and NS so i just downloaded new version of hammer and tried to get started. but i cant find my cgf. or any of that stuff that i need to map a new config for dod:s. so i looked at a tut and it said someting about running the source sdk but when i bought steam i didnt get that?

so im pretty n00b all over again but do u guys still use hammer for dod:s editing and do i have to dl the sdk somewhere?

also if u have any good tutorials for DoD:S or i guess even CS:S send em my way.... and any good source prefab sites :)

thanks !

You're not gonna like this answer but you need to have HL2 to have access to the SDK as of right now (might be different in the future).

So until you have HL2, no mapping. even Dod:s uses a good amount of HL2 material.

Also, their is not exactly a straightforward setup to map for DoD:S using the SDK at the moment, it is more of a work around way.

Not a "work-a-round" but a beta SDK from the developers.

Start here:

They did a page about it here:

My first DoD:S mapping tut:
