Official Map overviews
Does anyone know how these overviews were done? Like what filter or whatever in photoshop, cant seem to figure it out. Any help would be greatful :)
Basically i'm talking about the way they look like this - http://img290.imageshack.us/img290/2416/flash6qo.gif
Or am I way off and these were hand drawn?

Looks like brushwork for the texture, or just a premade background. The rest of it is simple line drawing and text.

I'm not gunna google for you but I was nice enough to go all the way over to the tutorial forum and find this (http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3871)
Look in the valve wiki; I remember there's a very comprehensive tutorial in there

the DL link in that thread no londer works.
Alright well thanks for that link Ca- I used his scanlines and recreated one which looks kinda like the source ones. I used a crumpled paper fill @ 39% opacity. Color doesn't match, but it's kind of close.
Here's the .psd in a .zip if anyone wants to use it. a few mirrors-
