i'd say you might need to be a little more specific about what happens... or maybe you need to reset the game configs or something
ok here's what i did
first i tried again. no dice
secondly restarted steam. same result
thirdly i deleated the \bin folder and tried again. still no dice
fourthly i tried a SDK content refresh. no dice again
odd thing is, it loads a decompiled argetaen

Refresh SDK Content
Run Day of Defeat Source once
Quit, and close Steam.
Load it up again.
if that fails, I would suggest deleted the SDK folder (Not the SRC SDK folder) and the SDK GCF file and redownload it all.
solution 1 failed, will try #2 in a minute.
solution two failed as well...

maybe your map files are corrupted for some reason... which blows, so hopefully its not that.

The file is probably corrupt. Luckily, with the beta SDK Hammer now has autosaving. Go into sourcesdk\bin\HammerAutosave and load the latest backup.
yeah i was begining to think that... i hope to god no
here's what is really pissing me off, i almost had a mortar all set up. oh another thing, i was using cordons to test the mortars...
it's not corrupted :P
i found you can open vmfs in notepad (the one thing windows did right) and did a little editing to the file. loads perfectly :P
