Too much time = fun experiment

Someone at VERC wanted to make a matrix style pillar (with tiles breaking one after the other) so I thought I'd give it a try too.

It's pointless, but it's fun :)

All source files and the bsp.

One day maybe we can have these over all our brushes and not lag ;)

I think if applied only occasionally this can be fun in certain places and add a certain realism/gameplay element.

My first thought was that it could be nice to hide an easter egg under these tiles and have it appear by shooting off each tile :)

I always thought in some places where there is a lot of fire (especialy mg fire) it would be good to have this. Ie: In Flash on the corner (you know, that one).

Go have a look at the specilists mod for HL1, it even has the matrix lobby level complete with destroyable pillars.

This is one of the first things I tried with my buddy when we started mapping, except we tried it with a whole room. It wouldn't work because of too many somethings, though. We got the idea from Geomod on the game Red Faction for ps2.

Dunno if you played the Matric map on css by Moonquake, but he has breakable pillars in an area of his map (lobby).

I've wanted to try making a breakable town.....
....but I haven't gotten around to it.

Might do that when I get home. Just something small and whatnot so it doesn't cause *too* much lag and fps droppage.

I'll have to see how that works out :P (I doubt it will from the sounds of it)
