Well in argentan they are just brushes textured with metal/metaltrack001a
(I'd suggest decompiling argentan and taking a look)
i was thinking that, i'll give it a try

There are also some track models available in Half-Life2 and also Counter-Strike Source, de_train props.
i was using ones from HL2 before, they're good for the depot in my map, but after that nope.

well the de_train ones are good because they are straight and just 1 set of tracks, hl2 ones are a bit dodgy because there are no single straigh tracks just 2 sets of straight and other all over the place ones :P
