Texture optimizations

I'm making quite a large area and using one of the blendsandsand textures. But this texture uses a lot of bump mapping (there aren't any sand textures that don't bump map) so I am trying to use the "Material_modify_control" entity to change the bump mapping bit.

However it says "Parent this entity to a brush model entity who's material you want to control." - this is a little odd since parenting I thought was only for movement purposes...

It doesn't have enough options to change in there, I've looked into the VTF file and thought that I might just change the name of the $bumpmap to nothing.

Anyone know how to use this entity?

*edit* Oh and I'm using displacements, I tired tying a func_brush to the displacement to give it a name but it doesn't like that.

Dont know how to use this entity but I know for a fact you can modify and/or create your own bumpmaps using photoshop or another program/plugin. may want to search the wiki
