Hey there, I've got a night map and want it to have the HDR ability! But the only 2 HDR skyboxes are bright day ones. I've tried looking around to convert (http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/HDR_Skybox_Creation?PHPSESSID=3be713f72b22cc21397b 82edc437c162) existing skyboxes but its tough work, the vft2tga.exe (took me ages to find out how to use it (http://72.9.232.162/~blink/forum/viewtopic.php?t=542&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=&sid=b8a01b14422ae63d043967e67fbcf0de)) program turns out quite low quality .tga files so I'm not even going to bother to figure out the HDRshop (http://www.hdrshop.com/) program yet. Does anyone know of any existing HDR skyboxes for night? Or a better way to convert the LDR skyboxes?

You musta missed that link in my post, I don't have any ability to make skyboxes so tryed to extact the vtf and convert to vga but they quality was too bad.
And for sarnie: Quoting the wiki page "IMPORTANT: The information in this article is a preview of features available in a upcoming SDK update. The splitskybox.exe application described here is not yet available."

doh!
that's why i can't find it :)
have you tried using VTFTool?
it's a simple win app that converts vtf to tga.
not sure if you can still get it though.
another one is nem's VTFLib, a bit more complicated than VTFTool.
also there's a photoshop plugin (http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=39) that allows you to work with vtf files.
