Slight texture problem.

Want to emphasise, its not a model texture. The same texture is on the centre part of the bridge and appears fine, however, on the diagnal parts, it appears black...

Any clue why?

(Was run on full settings and HDR, still appeared the same.

I'm not sure I'm having texture problems on my map too. Did you try adding / replacing a cubemap in that area. Definately looks like a lighting problem.

Hope you don't mind if I butt in with a few images of my problem, might as well keep one post on the issue.

No one has been able to tell me much about this, I am desperate for an easy solution so I don't have to rebuild that part of the level because that would be a collosal pain in the arse (it's all at angles and meh).



One strange thing is that on a previous compile there were different texture errors in the same location and that bit was fine:





Also you can see the error in the top-left has become worse.

I've tried: moving cubemaps, moving light_environment/sun entities and changing the skybox... so I'm guessing this one is nothing to do with lighting.

The only reason I thought yours might be lighting related Rolk is that there is a small bit of viewable texture there in the middle.

Yeah thats why I was shooting, to lighten up the texture...

Moving light_environment / env_sun around the map wont do anything, you need to switch their properties and origins and such.

I'm afraid I have no answers for your problem, ensure there is no 'nodraw' texture overlaping the texture on the wall...

Still no go. I changed the texture, I placed a cubemap and builtcubemaps -- still appears black.

I'm going to try and make it out of using the carve tool, as those are boxes that have had their angle changed...

Both of you guys should check for problems (alt +p) to look for invalid brushes. Might be that.

Hmm, now I think I fixed it, but when I compile, vrad.exe closes and I get an error. The map compiles but its on mat_fullbright and no lighting takes effect.

If your using the beta sdk, maybe try rolling back and not using the beta sdk and see if that cures the problem. If it doesnt, at least you've ruled it out.
