I've played the original quite often and liked it.
Nice to see this re-appear in Source, but I have to admit that Travis is right. This is not sourcy enough.
If you plan on creating more maps (original ones), then you might use this map as sort of a testing ground to make it visually more appealing.
I think that this map would look great when it is dark. Maybe even add rain.
Anyway, this will be fun to play, but will be great when you add some more atmosphere & props.

Never played the original, though if it was popular enough to demand an encore, I'll have to try this one.
Like travis said, it really doesn't look Sourcey enough. Needs a lot more detail (window ledges, loose bricks, little piles of rubble everywhere) and some better lighting.

Hooray! Another map that we ran in our Tournament Series for Gold, to go along with the Source releases of Tiger and Hobofire.
I love maps that are small enough for half-full servers to enjoy, but are capable of supporting higher amounts of players. It's the perfect blend. If anyone feels like remaking Vaals, Hameau, Custard, Stuka, and Hidden, please feel free :)
Personally, if the FPS are high with this version, then I say "less-Sourcy" of an appearance is a good thing.
Thanks for bringing it back. Feel free to hurry up with the release! Haha.

I loved this map, still do. IMHO is is extremely well put together, and always a challenge to cap. The brushwork is exceptional and the texturing is as good as anything I have seen. Once thing I didn't like was the axis advantage with an MG from the rubble pile coming out of the spawn, as well as the axis MG advantage when set up in the windows of the house looking down the right side of the allies path coming away from their spawn, so I feel it is somewhat axis sided, which is indicated by our server map stats as well.
24 Allies wins
54 Axis wins
As far as not looking "sourcey" enough, I would not complain in the least, if "sourcey" means the extreme clutter in the official maps. Good gameplay is the key, and it can still look great without being a massive clutter. I am glad you are porting this map, and am looking forward to playing it in source. Good job.

Although I was one of the guys asking for a more sourcy approach (Adding detail to the map) I also agree that the playability (FPS) is far more important.
Can't blame a man for wanting some eyecandy though !
As I said before, this will be a fun map without the additional props, but if there is no (or little) implication on performance then it will be more fun with the extra stuff !
Eyecandy should however never come before gameplay and the original map has great gameplay !

thank all for you comments
i do not use the dod:s textures and window models in this map so i think this is the unsoucey* look
some textures are selfmade and iam still learning ..
Propaganda your right ! The map is mostly good for Axis ..
i was to bad in the layout planing .. in this version i removed the
axis-spawn-rubble but this "windows" still inside the map -
i need to hold the old gamplay , i can change this in later versions.

Haven't heard much from this over the past month-and-a-half. Any good news?
Also, I know that you've said you'll only be doing "new" maps after you finish Panic, but I know MANY people would love to see dod_risk. I'm not completely sure, but I think that made the original dod_risk, didn't you?
More importantly, even more people in Source have never played that map, so it would be new to them.
They're both great maps, and I hope to see Panic soon.

Indeed
We included the original dod_risk in our league and would love to do so again for source.
Whether a direct port or an inspiration for source inovation .. we cant lose.
Cheers
