DOD_Tiger_source is my first Day of Defeat Source map. It was an original map made for dod that I've converted and Sourcified. I have not had any previous mapping experience so I hope you all like it as much as the original.

Extract the BSP file to you dod/maps directory e.g - C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\<USER NAME>\day of defeat source\dod\maps

Known issues so far for Beta 3:

* Nil Spawn protection, Just play fair.
* Projectiles won't travel past roof height in main streets, this was done on purpose to save on FPS and also
on VVIS time when compiling.
* One or 2 decal / overlay issues near middle of map.

i've had that before when i used displacements with too much detail. maybe you could try turning them down from 4 to 3 or lower using the texture tool's displacement tab.

The image 'burns' into place and then melts away quickly as HDR works its magic.......

Ok yeah just tried it and it is an issue =\. It even absolves the scoreboard when you put it up lol. Funny effect heh.

That's weird, Ozzman. We've played this map on our server at least 10 times this weekend, and never had that issue.

We DO, however, have issues with FPS, especially near the center cap. Even the players with high-tech rigs will drop into the teens. I often drop below 5 FPS in the center, depending on the action going on around me. Maybe the water is a bit more demanding on the performance, I'm not really sure. Whatever's causing it, it makes the map hard for people to enjoy fully.

Play-wise, it's a great map and a wonderful remake. It looks great, too. Performance-wise, it seems to need to be optimized, so I hope that's something that can be done for the next Beta.

Boc, the thing ozz showed is only when you have HDR on full enabled.

Here is one without HDR enabled. At this point it seems like there is no DX9 level skybox (or at least acts this way) since you guys don't have the same anomaly.

And I did just go RE-check other maps, including stocks and they do not exhibit this behavior... same server.

I'm getting horrible effects with the sky, myself and a few clan members are getting the same problem, we want to put it on our server, but it makes you feel quite queasy when running around:(

I don't have HDR enabled, and am running dod in dx8 mode, would that have any bearing on the matter?

I have that skybox error aswell. It might be because of this in the console.
Unable to load sky sdk_sky_example_hdr.

This kinda sky problem usually is synonym to a leak in the map.

He's using the sample sky from the dods beta.

I'm guessing those that get the error havn't used the beta SDK or extracted the example sky.

That's one issue that I don't agree with. I'm not the only one, either, as the vast majority of the players on our server find it to be the laggiest map in our cycle, and we've had 15 maps running. I agree with Furyo that there seems to be a leak.

I downloaded it off another game server on Friday, and I can't remember which one. At the time, there were approximately 4-6 servers running it throughout the evening.

It's still playable, but it's far from optimized, IMO. It often bogs down to single-digit FPS for me and runs in slow motion. However, I have never noticed any issues with the sky and no one has complained to me about it as of yet.

I would have tried to get your version of the map and check it out.

We had a number of guys who had the same problem with the sky, I run with HDR on but I just got a black sky.

We had tried the b1 and b2 of this map but had probs with them all.

b1 had some strange flickering textures, b2 crashed a lot of ppls comps and had black surrounds to the doors and the brush floors had some freaky psychadelic effect on them as did the glass

With b3 the glass and floor prob was still there and I had a black sky.

Apart from that the map played ok for me but the streets could do with being wider or less obstructions, with the pinball bug in dod at the moment it makes it really hard to get out of spawn for the allies in particular.

Ok I just played it tonight, and I didn't see the sky problem. What I did see was that the cubemaps were the v19 version. Black models/fullbright flags and what not, those are all signs of someone not using the beta sdk.

Until it's fixed I won't play the map again. It's got good potential too, but feels a little cramped/too small of scale (water comes to mind, but the bridge too).

I agree that widening it up won't hurt. Source seems "bigger" than Gold, so wider/larger is better.

Freakin Heck,

I'm removing the map for download until I can get a bit more time to investigate this further, optimize and re-compile.

I just tested on my wife's PC, she hasn't installed the SDK Beta as I have and it seems I have used a Bad skybox (the example one) Sorry All, I'll add a HDR capable Skybox re-optimize near the middle and re-release it. Stay tuned for Beta4.

Also, Anyone know if this would be causing any other errors... I have a Vid Card capable of Pixel shader 2.0 and not Pixel Shader 3.0. Could Does this cause errors when I build the 2 sets of cubemaps?

go to map properties, and change the skybox texture name to like
sky_dod_01_hdr
or
sky_dod_03_hdr - this is the anzio skybox

then recompile, buildcubemaps with hdr on and off and re-release.
Those skyboxes will work for people without the beta sdk.
