Screenshot formats

If you're a bit slow, much like me, you'll have been wondering since the release why some guys had their screenshots as jpeg, others as TGAs.

The reason is there are two different commands:

bind "F5" "screenshot" -> Tga pictures

bind "F5" "jpeg" -> jpeg pictures

The difference being the quality of the resulting screenshot. If you're gonna make a bells and whistles shot, might as well use the high quality settings.

Just thought I'd pass my recent find along...

Oh btw, there is a setting that sets the quality of the jpg screenies you want to take:

jpeg_quality 100

Where 100 is the very best (uncompressed).

Is there an actualy commend to hide the player model's weapon?

I remember on the HL1 engine there was...

"hidepanel all" - Does this apply to Source also 'cause my gun model won't go away?

Should of mentioned:

Go into spectator mode first,
then type the commands:

cl_drawhud 0

and

hidepanel all

That will remove all crap !

Thought I'd just point this out, although its not important! 100 still compresses the image, although its low compression and results in best quality!

you know whats funny, you dont even have to bind it. Most of us assume that it is bound to f5 and therefore press it to take screen shots. Low and behold i was foolish enough to do it as well. I went into my ingame options and looked to see what the problem was ... TAKE SCREENSHOTS wasnt bound to anything ... UH OH. Just bind it to f5 through the options and there you go :D

worked for me .... not sure for everyoen else ;)

r_drawviewmodel 0 seems to be the better option. Spec mode locks position sometimes. I know there's a way around it - I've been able to move while in spec mode. Can't find the secret decoder ring at the moment.....

Doh! I really need to get another cup of coffee. Why are the simple things so hard to remember?

Do yourselves a favor, mappers:

Quit showing us low-res crappy pics of your beautiful maps!!

Make sure you have your AA at max (7800 will do 8x, SLI will do 16x) and your anisitropic filtering at max also (16x).

Also, screen res would be a bonus as well. I have the capability of 1680 x 1050 pixels at 8x AA and 16x AF, 32bpp and FULL HDR. Also, you can use color correction via your video card's control panel to help make your colors way more vivid!

If you need help setting that up or simply would like me to take non-public SS's for you to pick and choose from, hit me up via PM.

Thanks,

Ozz
